TB folders do NOT show the gold star when there is NEW mail any more!!!
Thunderbird used to show a yellow star right on the folder when looking at multiple inboxes. The new TB does not show me which inbox received new message! I have to click each folder to see which one has the unread mail.
Usually when I hear the beep, I go to TB take a quick glance and it used to show which inbox has new mail....
Please if you can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.

re :3-I clicked repair folder and the account name still showing in blue when there is two unread messages in there!
The account name folder may still be blue if you have new unread in other folders. But is the actual folder containing the unread messages a blue colour?
Menu app icon > View > Find > Search Messages Search on the mail account name - not a folder. Select 'Search subfolders' Select 'Match all of the following' Select 'Status' 'is' 'New' click on 'Search'
Does the search find any New messages ?

The inbox folder turns back to black after reading the NEW message..

So there is nothing wrong with the folder.
But is the 'account name' folder still blue when all the folders in that account are black?

it went back to account name being blue today! even though the inbox folders are black
I noticed that when I closed TB and reopened it the account name went from blue to black
