If you're certain there is no mail to be kept in the old account it can be deleted.
Press Alt or F10 in case the menu bar is hidden. From the main menu bar: Tools - Account Settings Select the account to be deleted in the left pane. Select 'Remove Account' from the 'Account Action' drop-down menu at the bottom.
When I go to acct settings and try and select the email address to be deleted, the window quickly retracts and a smaller window labelled "Account Wizard" displays a message that "an account with this name already exists. Please enter a different account name." then it retracts. I don't see how I can select the email address I want to delete.
I'm on a Mac running Thunderbird 52.1.1.
