The Real Player Browser Download Record Plugin 15.0.1 in Firefox 10 stopped appearing on all videos. It was working from 1/31 to 2/3 and now doesn't show at all. A clean reinstall of Real Player 15 Plus doesn't fix this. OS is Windows 7 Home Premium. As usual after a F.F. upgrade, the download button works on Internet Explorer. Now it's the weekend and Real's Developers aren't even working! The Developers of both companies need to coordinate this once and for all. Norton started doing this with Mozilla at my suggestion for the Norton Tool Bar and there no longer is any delay in compatibility. Please contact Real Player tech support to complain. Their Case Manager told me that the three week compatibility delay with Real Player 14 last year would never happen again. I wouldn't bet on it.

Update Note: This thread is now also about "Adobe Flash 11.3 doesn't load video content" because people having that problem started posting here.

Hey, guys. I have good news on the RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin compatibility with Firefox 10.0. It's fixed, as of two days ago but tech support wasn't informed properly. Yesterday, 2/8 I tried to check for updates and there was one and it fixed the compatibility problem. Here's what to do. Click on the RealPlayer button in the upper left corner of RealPlayer and on the menu that opens, click on "Check for Updates". You should see an update checked for the same "15.0" but when you run the update it should say it's now reading "15.0.2". If the download button still doesn't appear, I think I had to then open the Firefox Addons folder, click on "extensions"and enable the Plugin extension by simply clicking the "enable" button which should now be available. Then just restart Firefox and it should work. Let me know if you're still having any problem with it.

I am so frustrated and I just don't have the knowledge base you guys do to be able to keep the computer up and running. All I know is for two weeks I had thw perfect computer and now i can't watch any vidoes on mine nowand last month I went through this same crap with firfox and the downloader why is tis happening again? I n the begining i could watch video so long as the downloader was disabled but it did not remain that way because after reading your posts i went to watch a movie and could no longer do so I then followed the instructions to uninstall the adobe flash and reinstall 11.2 then I redownloaded the realplayer (after loading and completely uninstalling countless times throughout a sleepless night) nothing works not the downloader and not the video/movies, so i tried to switch to internet exploere thinking I had enough malwarebloker to be safe and now my grandson has had a lesson in -f--- video chat.off topic but my god how can anyone with a concience bombasrd random computers with that kind of garbage and why does that happen on chrome and explorer but not firefox. At this point i am thinking i give up but it certainly is a shame that with the techknowledgy we have out theses kind of issues happen again and again I am exausted and heart broken. I really thought Ib had the perfect computer...

After I reinstalled RealPlayer 15, I opened Firefox and a compatibility warning popped up and gave an option to enable the RealPlayer plugin 1.1. If you don't check the enable box and click continue, then videos will play on all web sites using Firefox, but RealPlayer will only give you the "Download and Record" function on IE. I didn't have to disable any plugins in Firefox. If you check the box and allow the RealPlayer plugin 1.1 then click continue , then all the video problems start with Firefox. Sorry but I didn't take a screen shot with Snipping Tool.

@grampsx2 Now I understand what you mean. But which version are you referring to 11.2 or 11.3. What you're describing is 11.3 behavior if the the plugin extension is installed but not blocked. In my computer, the block is optional, not automatic. So with the 11.3 you would have to either make sure it's reading that it's blocked or not install it. Either way , you know you can't download videos with it. But with the 11.2, you should definitely be able to allow the plugin extension to be installed and you should not have to use the YTD. This otherwise sounds like the 11.3 behavior, which makes no sense. I'm using the 11.2 right now and last night reinstalled RealPlayer to test it and it works normally, including the download button, after allowing the pop up installation. Of course, if you don't allow it, you can't download videos with it, even the 11.2. But when you did allow the pop up installation by checking the box (sorry, didn't realize that's the check box you meant), did you check the settings in the Extensions folder to see if FF had automatically disabled it? You know that's what many users are reporting (although it didn't automatically block it on my computer). Because if FF did automatically block it, you can definitely enable it and then you should be able to download videos with RealPlayer. I even installed the YTD to see if there's a conflict but there isn't - both downloaders worked. It's the only thing I can think of. But I've been noticing that this block is working differently for different users. So check what the setting reads if you allow the compatibility pop up installation. Install it again, unless you're sure you checked it last time. Now I see what you meant about not having to disable any plugins in FF. You meant if you don't allow the the installation right? , if that's what you meant, there's nothing that needs disabling. But once you allow it, (which you have to do to download videos) , that's when FF is probably going to disable it, which is supposed to allow you to see videos with the 11.3 but you obviously need it enabled with the 11.2 because that version doesn't have the problem and with seeing videos and you need it enabled to download them. It's the only thing I can think of. If I'm misunderstanding anything here, just let me know. But you said if you allow it, "all the video problems start again". So if it's all the problems, I assume you mean you can't see them either and that should only happen with the 11.3 but with the extension enabled. And then, you can still download videos in IE and Chrome. So which version are you referring to and check the setting of the Record Plugin extension after you install it.

Hi CheckMate, Sorry it took me a while to answer but once the work week starts, I have little computer time. Plus it was hard to get into the forum. I guess there are a lot of people looking for an answer. Supposedly co-rel, one of the Firefox people posted a solution but I have not been able to connect to it. Anyway back to your questions. As soon as Firefox updated itself and restarted, the window came up telling me that the Real Player Browser Record Plugin would be disable. I clicked OK. So I guess I did it. The same thing happened to me a few months or a year ago when Firefox Updated and my Norton Toolbar was not compatible. Once the compatibility was solved the plugin was turned back on by Firefox. I was not really thinking that the consequences would be not been able to see and/or download videos with the Real Player plugin disabled. I first became aware of the problem when I got the newsletter form Cesar Milan, "The Dog Whisperer" and I was not able to see the videos. I went to Chrome and sure enough I was able to see my videos. During all of this process I HAVE NEVER UNINSTALLED REALPLAYER. I think the problem that a lot of people are having is the they did that uninstalling. My first thing was to go inside Realpalyer to the preferences, Download and Record and unchecking the box.I have a lot of Audio files from seminars in my RealPlayer library and a few videos and I was not about to loose them. Then I realized that I could not download anything in any of my browsers. That is when I did some more investigating on the forum and found the solution about reverting to the previous Flash. I still have 11.2 on Firefox with the Browser RealPlayer disabled plugin. I did one more test before I started to write you write you. I clicked on my home page on one of the news items video. Immediately as it started playing my dearly LOVED downloader button came up. I clicked on it, the video was downloaded to my library in RealPlayer, I clicked on it and it played. Just like old times.Maybe I am lucky and should not jinx myself. One of my gripes with Firefox is that you are forced to update. I liked it better when you had the choice not to have an automatic update. I used to wait for a few weeks until all of the bugs were fixed before updating to a newer version.Amy

I too am up and running again after installing the earlier flash program. Am I correct to assume ff had nothing to do with the problem it was the updated flash player? Just coincidentally all updated at once? I have also changed my settings as suggested by you checkmate and there will be no more updates automatically from adobe. Having to deal with major componates of my system is really frightening.

@mamabrumble59 Hi, Laura, I was just about to finish another post to you from your last but now you're up and running? You sound like you're understanding more than you give yourself credit for once you calm down and start thinking. Please tell me what you mean that you're up and running again. Are you seeing videos with FF? Are you able to use the download button in FF? Which earlier version is it? You said it was 11.2 but I gave you the link for the safer 10.3 version, but they both work equally well. Please tell me what you did and what you're able to do now and which earlier version of Flash it is and why you didn't use the link for the 10.3- or did you? Glad you changed the setting in Adobe from automatic to "let me know". Many techs have taught me that it's a good idea to wait a few days and see if anyone's having major problems. I, too got fooled, because even though I had Adobe on manual update, I did it without checking any forums. You ask a very good question about the timing of the updates - but read this carefully. They didn't come at the same time, Laura. Firefox 13 was released on 6/5/12 and RealPlayer worked perfectly UNTIL I DID THE ADOBE UPDATE to 11.3 one week later, and immediately I couldn't see videos. And the Adobe update includes a brand new security feature in FF but some advanced users have found that disabling it fixes the issue, but not for everyone, and trying it is not for the average user. But that doesn't mean that all three programs - RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin, Firefox, and certainly Adobe's update 11.3 aren't interacting badly because they are. So all three companies are working on this, but it seems like Adobe is the main culprit here. But this is what happens when companies like this don't coordinate their testing. Adobe has one hell of a nerve saying, even now, "We believe the update to be reliable and totally tested". And yes, Laura, it's very scary when major components fail like that but we all go through that too - you're not alone. And FF's recommended "troubleshooting steps" are an embarrassment. Please tell me what you did and what's working. If you need help with viruses or malware, I'll tell you how to get great help. I'll talk to you about that tomorrow.

I removed Flash Player 11.3 using Flash Player Uninstaller @ this link>>> http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html#main_Download_the_Adobe_Flash_Player_uninstaller Look for the uninstaller (671 KB) see image 1. Then I went to this link to install Flash Player 10.3 >>>http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html you have to scroll down to all the older apps and select the correct one. See Image 2. I saved the zipped folder to my desktop, the folder was named "fp_10.3.183.18_archive" see Image 3. Open that folder and open sub folder 10_3r183_18 folder see image 4. For Windows Select and install both "flashplayer10_3r183_18_win.exe" and "flashplayer10_3r183_18_winax.exe" see image 5. The "Download and Record Video" button is working in both Firefox and IE. This will work for Vista 32bit users as well. Except in IE you'll have to click on tools, select "Manage Add Ons" and right click on the Realplayer Download and Record option and enable it. Then the button will appear in IE.

It was the Adobe Flash Player update 11.3. that stopped RealPlayer from working in Firefox 4 thru 13. I rolled back my Adobe Flash Player to 10.3. As you can see in my previous post I uninstalled Flash player with Adobe's Uninstaller tool. I installed Flash Player & FlashPlayer Active X 10.3 for Windows. My OS is W7 64bit with Firefox 13 & Realplayer 15.0.4.53 It will work with Vista 32bit OS as well. 6/20/12 Today I uninstalled Flash Player 10.3 and installed Flash Player 11.1.102.55 64bit on my W7 64bit OS PC. RealPlayer is still working in FF13 and IE. This will work for Vista 32bit users as well. Except in IE you'll have to click on tools, select "Manage Add Ons" and right click on the Realplayer Download and Record option and enable it. Then the button will appear in IE.

hello again check mate , the reason I did not use the link you suggested is I tried and got afraid I was messing things up because I could never get the video's to work again so I ended up rolling my computer back to last week when everything was perfect I think you call it recovery , but BIG BUT after working supreamly well last night about 330 am my computer decides that firefox must update and now everything is screwed up again. My realplayer still works because the flash did not have permission to update but I guess things are just not jiving like they did. My computer has at this point the 11.2 flash. the other problem i mentioned was feeling trapped at having to use ff because of all the smut that seems to bypass all my malware adware pop up blocking . I can not fathom how if you can not put pornographic material on a bill board sign then you should not be allowed to randomly send out pornographic spam, particularly from or to a computer that has never once made a pornographic inqury. So to prevent my children/grandchildren from that I am stuck having to use ff, after being positive these issues were resolved here I sit eating crow with ff.

@mamabrumble59 Hi Laura, Now I understand everything! I had to read between the lines in the earlier comments because you were so upset and not being specific what was happening. So it was pornography after all you were reporting and it's bypassing any blocking settings but only on Chrome and IE? That shouldn't happen, but I have some suggestions. What malware and adware pops up are you referring to - from your security software? It may not be good software. There are some out there that can even give fake popups to get you to buy their program. Please tell me what you're using. I'll tell you the best to use. You also mentioned Trojans once a day and reports of 8-10 highjackers. Is that still happening? Whether it's real or fake threats, the best security software can clean your system and block those threats. It's perfectly understandable why you rolled back to 11.2 using a "Restore Point". A Recovery means actually reinstalling your whole operating system and starting over, but it's only used as a last resort and you have to save all your personal files first, and then add it back after the Recovery, or you'll lose everything, but a restore doesn't touch you personal files normally. So using a restore point from a time when everything was working right was a smart thing to do, but, then you have to deal with any further updates again causing problems. You absolutely did the right thing taking Adobe updates off automatic . But explain one thing. Your RealPlayer is fine, but after the Firefox update "now everything is screwed up again". What do you mean? Are you able to see videos? If you can see them but you can't download them, open the Add-ons Manager Extensions to make sure the downloader is reading "disable", meaning it's actually "enabled" on the right side button and that it's not reading "enable" and saying it's been Disabled. Remember, FF is now automatically blocking the RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension (to allow you to see videos with the 11.3 adobe, but you need it enabled using the 11.2) but you definitely can enable it. Just click on the button if it's reading "enable" and then restart Firefox. If anything else is wrong with FF, but please do this step right now - it may fix things. Have you cleaned the temporary files and cookies and the cash and History in the browsers? They can build up and sometimes cause all kinds of problems. Follow these steps...

Internet Explorer 9 (similar in 8)

1-Click on Tools near the top and then, Internet Options, Then Click Delete

2-Four prechecked boxes will read - "Preserves Favorites, Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, and History - (Leave the other boxes UN-CHECKED)
    2-Click Delete at the bottom
    3-Restart your computer

              Chrome
1-Click on the wrench icon in upper right corner
2-Click on "clear all browsing data"
3-It'll say "obliterate the following items for the past hour" Click on the drop down arrow and change that by

clicking on and selecting "the beginning of time"

4-Leave the check boxes alone and don't check any others
    5-Click Delete at the bottom
    6-Restart your computer

Don't be afraid of this, they're only temporary files, not your saved data. Do these steps first, then we can check if the Windows Firewall is turned on (it should be, by default,), but you have to tell me what security software you're using. Even if you're not sure, tell me. And tell me exactly what is "all screwed up again". PS About your updates at the same time question- I think you meant not the update to FF 13.0, but the update to automatically block the downloader. But that was only done by FF AFTER the Adobe update to try to allow people to see videos again because of the conflict and they did that pretty quickly but again, FF wasn't the initial cause, just a player.

@grampsx2 Thanks for that last updated post clarifying that it was the 11.3. I was just reading the post before that where you very nicely explained everything in great detail with the screen shots, but I guess with all that detail you had left out the version number you were rolling back from. I was just about to ask you that last question, but you just answered it and I did think that's exactly what you meant. The only thing that confused me is when you had mentioned both the 11.3 and the 11.2. The main thing is you're all set now. Great! But I am curious if you ever did try the 11.2, only because I've tested both 11.2 and 10.3 and they both work equally well, (including the download button) as long as the Record Plugin extension is enabled. The only reason I mentioned the 10.3 and posted the direct link for it on a comment to mamabrumble59 is because Adobe says its up to date on security, whereas the 11.2 has known vulnerabilities but they do give you the choice. But, like I said earlier, with good security software, it's OK, too, but as a general recommendation the 10.3 seems safer. I also usually prefer the most recent version of apps. but I don't see any difference at all between the 10.3 and the 11.2, so don't think you're missing any important feature improvements. And, if it's less stable, (which I didn't find), you can always try the 11.2. if you need to. One small point. I know you were very thorough in reinstalling the earlier version, but I don't think you need to roll back the ActiveX to the 10.3 because it's only for IE and that wasn't effected - just the Flash plugin in FF. I tried leaving the 11.3 installed for IE and it's fine, so I'm just letting you know. You may want to upgrade only that one to the 11.3 for the latest feature improvements in IE.

@Amylogamy Hi Amy, Clarify one thing for me . You said that when Firefox updated it said it was disabling the RealPlayer Record Plugin extension. But Firefox updated automatically to 13.0 on 6/5 which was on schedule. I got it right away. But Adobe didn't update Flash plugin till approx 6/12 ( earliest post on that was 6/10). So how could it do that before the Flash updated? When did Firefox do that update? I think what you mean is not the Firefox version update to 13.0, but the blocking update-and did that happen after you reinstalled RealPlayer because you had the symptoms from the Adobe update? Did you get the idea to uncheck the Web Download and Recording box from any post or troubleshooting step on Firefox or did you simply try it as a simple trouble shooting step until you realized that's it's less than useless? Also, with the original 11.3 when FF said it's disabling the extension were you able to see videos? I'm curious because you said it's not disabled with 11.2, even though it says it is. I never got the automatic block but even when I tried manually disable it, I still couldn't see videos. And. like I confirmed with you , when I tried disabling it with 11.2, it said it was disabled but it was still working. I'm wondering if the reason I couldn't even see videos even after disabling it manually may be that it really wasn't disabled at all with 11.3! So did the "disable" work to let you see videos with 11.3? The Norton Too Bar compatibility delay with Firefox 4.0 was caused by FF not longer locking in the source code 5 months early so Norton could have time to update and test the compatibility of the Tool Bar. Symantec Developers were giving updates on their forum, while Firefox and Mozilla said nothing. They were estimating 2 months to test the Too Bar before releasing worldwide - a hot fix came out in 2 weeks ( I predicted that). But that's when Mozilla was saying FF was on a 6 week update sched.now. So I told the Team Leader of Norton's Case Managers who I know that although I know this was Mozilla's fault, if they're on a 6 week release and Norton's taking weeks to update the Tool Bar, their gonna lose a lot of customers. I said I couldn't understand why Norton's Developers were not talking to Mozilla's Developers and coordinating this thing. He said "That's a very good suggestion" and one week later, on the forum, the Developers posted an update and said they were now coordinating the Tool Bar with Mozilla and they were very pleased with the recent responses. That was the LAST time there was a delay with the Tool Bar compatibility. I posted that same suggestion, with the full explanation on the SUMO forum, where they come up with these stupid support articles, and it was completely ignored. Now you know why you had to find out the hard way that there's a better, more direct, and logical workaround and, as you know, Amy it wasn't only me who thought of it early but look at all the misleading, less than useless garbage that they're putting out there. About cor-el, he's one of the cookbook FF party line crowd. Here's just a couple of his "fixes". Restart FF in safe mode to check for compatility issues with add-ons- one user said it didn't fix anything- didn't work for me either, but he says it can be 'caused ' by the RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension. But even if it did disable the plugin extension and you could see videos you still couldn't download videos. And many users have other symptoms like crashes. Another "fix"is to try reinstalling Adobe Flash - it's a basic troubleshooting step but has nothing to do with this, although yes, it helped one user. Another is to disable the new Protected Mode feature - very advanced step which only seemed to help some users anyway. He never once, in all this time, recommended the obvious - roll back the Flash update that caused it all. Here's a link to a related forum in which I really let him have it about this "cookbook without scientific common sense" approach. It's pretty interesting and makes for some fun reading. Just read from the top of the page: cor-el, me, his one response, and 83Arch. Check out the immediate response and interaction with me from 83Arch. Her reaction was perfect timing.[[Is Adobe flash plugin 11.3.300.257 incompatible with Firefox???|https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/929141#answer-340929]]

Hi CheckMate, Firefox decided to update right in the middle of me reading my mail. I could not get back to my AOL mail so I thought something might be wrong like the BIG FIASCO about a year ago when a lot of people lost all of their mail and mail folders. Anyway, I turned off Firefox and turned it on back again and it told me about the update, NICE!!!! I am not absolutely sure when the window about the incompatibility with the RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin popped up. I thought it was after the Firefox update but it could have been after the Flash update, I just did not relate the two together. I was reading a newsletter with videos and could not see the videos so my first thought was to check my mail on IE and Chrome. My newsletter videos were working perfectly on those two other browsers. I have experienced SO MANY PROBLEMS with Firefox and the previous Netscape that I always check my other browsers before trying to fix anything. Like you, I knew nothing about computers just eight years ago. I have learned so much on my own, for example not always following "Cookbook" like instructions. Once I realized it was a Firefox problem, I went into the forum to investigate. I was happy to see that I was not the only one having problem with the videos. I found the post about going to RealPlayer and unchecking the Download and Record box as a solution. I did it and it worked. I also realized that by doing that I would not be able to download any videos from any of my other browsers. NOT SO GOOD!!!!!! I did some more searching and found another post about the Flash update possibly being the culprit. I could not understand at first what RealPlayer had to do with the problem or how they were related. I never uninstalled RealPlayer. Like I said I follow some instructions that seem logical but every time I see that the first solution they give is to disable your plugins and go on Firefox Safe mode I just ignore it. All of my searching let me to another post telling to revert to a previous Flash version. If the Flash update was causing the problem that seemed like a better solution so I did it and it worked. I also discovered in the process that, each browser uses a different Flash plugin. Tha is why we can use The new Flash 11.3 in IE and Chrome but not in Firefox. I love your comments to co-rel. I was laughing reading it. ALERT!!!! As I turned on my computer today I got a window from Flash telling me about a new Update with Firefox Fixes. I said ASK ME LATER. What do you think? Should we update? Is this going to solved everybody's problems? I can't wait wait for your suggestion.

@Amylogamy

Hi Amy,

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner about the update question. Had to get some sleep and then I wanted to test that update and check Adobe's site before I told you anything. Thanks for the clarifications and your comment about my comments to cor-el . I just noticed link on the SUMO forum to where he recently finally posted a link to the 11.2 even though I tested that and reported it on the same SUMO forum on 6/11. It seems he posted it on another thread, but still very recently. Glad you were laughing.

Don't do that update! It won't do any harm but it doesn't work, either. If you had fun with the cor-el thing, you'll find this really interesting. I didn't get the pop up so I looked on Adobe's site. I had subscribed to this Runtime Announcement page and indeed there was an update. Yesterday, before the new update, the last announcement referred to the crashes and no video content. They apologized and said that the update was "conflicting" with the RealPlayer download extension.... and guess what the recommended workaround was... roll back the update to one of the earlier versions.

But today, that's gone and replaced by the update which says it's for fixing "stability issue with Firefox", but not audio problems. I didn't read the Release Notes, because it seemed obvious that since there was NO other reference to the video viewing issue anywhere on the page, that the update covered that. So I uninstalled and reinstalled the updated 11.3.300.262. First video played second video, same error. Third , fourth, didn't play , fifth played and so on. Most videos still can't be viewed. Immediately before testing it, I get an email that there's a post on the forum about the update. Just a "hey guys we should test it" without any explanation. Then I posted the results directly to the moderator and also reported that RealPlayer is either already recommending the rollback or really liked my recommendation. to do it. one supervisor told his tech when she asked him, that if I recommended it, it's OK and also told her about some of the major criticism and confusion ( like your experience-no names) and anger that FF is causing about this. and warned them NOT to recommend this update, although they should definitely test it themselves. A few minutes later, I get a response from the guy who wrote the official support article, telling me that update is only supposed to be to make FF less "crashy", not to fix the video issues. I said that the way it read, clearly removing any other reference to the video issues, it certainly implied it fixed everything. And if these guys knew different they'd better stop misleading people with all this incorrect info. and troubleshooting steps - if they knew this update was only to fix crashes they should say so. While I'm still writing that , another advanced user says he just noticed one report from a user that the RealPlayer extension "still 'causes' problems with Flash Player's new update", so I had to clarify that too - that good science doesn't assume just because there is a correlation that doesn't mean it's the cause. But the really funny thing is that that 'problem' was the same video viewing problem and it didn't fix it. So he just confirmed that the the reason I assumed the update was for everything was because Adobe can't write simple English. I added that there ought to be a new language.. "Adobe Speak"

I read the release notes and yes, it only mentions fixing the crashes, so you were smart to hold off till you checked with me. I told them I'll tell you guys about it but I wouldn't trust anything Adobe does until this is completely fixed even for people who have the crash problems unless they're a more advanced user and want to test it. And Adobe makes it clear they're asking for feedback so this is clearly a beta fix so far.

Level Three at RealPlayer told me today they just got official OK from their Developers to recommend the rollback to 11.2 with instructions and a video. It's in their knowledge base under "RealPlayer Plugin blocked by Firefox". The extension still reads disabled but it's working, even with the new update. Now I have to uninstall and reinstall this stupid update again. Trying real hard to maintain a sense of humor about this "Keystone Cops update".

Hi CheckMate. Thank you so much for keeping me updated on what is going on. WHAT A MESS!!!!!! like you said, aren't these people supposed to test things before they are released? When I saw the pop up for the update I thought everything would be fixed. Again like you said TOTALLY MISLEADING!!!! I am glad I waited to hear from you. Please let me know if anything new comes up. Thanks again, Amy P.S. I was just reading The Real Player Knowledge Base article "RealPlayer plugin blocked by Firefox". When I deleted Flash 11.3 and reinstalled 11.2, I used their uninstaller and then reinstalled 11.2 but I never deleted any files and folders from the said directories. It still works fine, so I don't want to mess with it right now." IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT" approach.

Checkmate, I am sorry not to have gotten back to you sooner my husband is terminally ill and having a rough patch so the computer has to wait but I do want to comment on the mess I see happening again I turned off the automatic update for flash and although ff has updated I am still able to record and I am back to using 11.2 via the recovery files. I hope this helps someone as your advise and patients were a Godsend to me .As soon as he is better I hope you will go over this with me thank you again/ Laura

Hi Laura,

I'm very sorry to hear about your husband. I understand. Just so you're clear in the meantime, make sure you leave the Adobe setting to "notify me" because although there's a new update, it does NOT fix the video problem. It's only for people who had crash problems and it's not tested yet even for that. Amylogomy said she got a pop up announcement about the update but it doesn't make it clear what it's for, but I tested it and also read the release notes, so don't upgrade until you get word that there is a permanent fix. I'll post that as well. If you have to you can change the setting in the control panel, then click on Flash Player, then the Advanced tab. and make sure the middle setting is dotted which reads "Notify me when updates are available". It's not clear if everyone who's using the 11.2 version gets this pop up notification... I didn't, but I saw it on Adobe's site.
