I have been using Thunderbird for many, many years now and been happy with it.

However last 6 months or so, it has been constantly crashing, often several times a day. Crash reports almost never get sent as it says there is a technical error.

Using a HP Spectre 360 (7 years old) with Windows 10. All windows updates have been applied, and constantly virus checked etc. No other programs giving me grief like Thunderbird which is the most important program. Before Thunderbird I used Eudora which was also great. Always regretted changing to Thunderbird.

I am now over it and Thunderbird. How do I transfer all my emails, attachments etc going back 10-12 years or so to a new email program.

Any suggestions regarding a better email client. Don't want to use Outlook. Have been looking at Proton Mail.

All of the sudden today I can't send email from Thunderbird. Incoming email fine. However whenever I try to send I get a server timeout error. This has been working fine for years up until today. This is the message; Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtphm.sympatico.ca timed out. Try again.

Once I click on reply, it opens a new window where I can reply an email. My signature will always be below the quotes. Is saw that there was a setting back then where I can make it above the quotes, but the setting is not there anymore in the current version. Can you help me with that issue?

Is there an alternative client I can import my Tbird data to?

I have had zero luck fixing constant crashing of Tbird and it is not providing any crash reports. It just says (Not Responding) and I can close but no restart without using task manager to kill the background process.

I cannot work like that so need something else.

Since I updated this version, Thunderbird often fails to connect to the mail server. And sending mail is very slow.

I don't know why, is it because I use VPN? Do I need to set Thunderbird to use the system proxy to connect to the Internet? I used automatic detection before.

When I double click on an email in my inbox, it opens as a reply email from me to me in a "write" format with the only option to "send". The yellow warning at the bottom reads: A unique identity matching the From address was not found. The message will be sent using the current field and settings for identity Vince Walker with my email address. If I instead right click on the email in my inbox and ask to open in another tab it appears correctly with correct sender and options to reply reply all etc. How do I fix this? I have rebooted Thunderbird and my computer. Vince

In Windows 11, the Address Book is accessed via an icon on top left of the TB main page or Alt+2. In Windows 11 is there a similar key combination to view the folders below Local Folders?

Hi! I have added an e-mail account to my Thunderbird and the support by the e-mail delivery says that I should just log in as it was an office365-account. I have done that and I can read the incoming mail, but it is not possible to answer or write a new message. I´ve tried different ways at the outgoing server, but always getting the same message: It was not possible to send the message. The message was not send because of the impermissible number of recipients (well, more or less - translated from swedish). So what to do? Y.S. Mikael Sanner

Hi, I Changed IMAP to POP3, rebuilt Inbox.MSF and it worked for a few hours. Now, I cannot get control of the Thunderbird screen (it is grayed out and "the wheel is turning") I've also tried to Shift click to start Thunderbird in Troubleshoot mode and checked both boxes. (I get control for approximately 15 seconds). I am running Windows 11 with 64 Gb of RAM and enough disk space. What should I do now?

BTW, I am an I/T professional, so you may use jargon in your response.

The task is to put a company logo icon instead of a folder icon, how to change the icon image for mail folders in Thunderbird? I read the topic https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1305856 and did as it says, created userChrome.css and toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheet changed 'True'. but no changes happened. specialFolder or localFolder both is okey. Version 128.5.0esr (64-bit)

I don't want the Thunderbird to download all messages from server. I want to "tell him" - Don't download messages where "From:" is "something@something.com".

Is this simple task is achivable in Thunderbird?

PS I don't care is it POP or IMAP. It doesn't matter. What matters is can I tell Thunderbird (maybe by filters) - don't download specified messages from server?

It has been asked several times already, but all threads seem to just be archived without any proper response. How can one set for all folders and all messages (not just new ones) the default view permanently to 'unthreaded'?
