more options

All of a sudden I can't get into Facebook. Message says javascript is disabled. When I foillow the instructions on this web site to enable it, I am told to go to "Options" but it is not there either under Preferences - Content or under Tools - Content. I reinstalled java and it didn't help. What heppened? How do I fix it? Facebook has worked smoothly for a long time and I did nothing to disable javascript. I have OSX 10.10.3 on Mac.

Chosen solution

Hello there,

Have you installed the latest Firefox version? If not, follow this link: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-version

However, if that doesn't solve the issue, follow the easy steps below:

1. In the address bar, type "about:config" (with no quotes), and press Enter. 2. Click "I'll be careful, I promise" 3. In the search bar, search for "javascript.enabled" (with no quotes). 4. Right click the result named "javascript.disabled" and click "Toggle".

JavaScript is now enabled.

Hope this helps!

It's not in Options any more. Instead:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste javas and pause while the list is filtered

(3) If the javascript.enabled preference is bolded and "user set" to false, double-click it to switch it back to the default value of true

Does that fix it?

If it was already set to true, then an add-on might be blocking scripts in the page.

P.S. JavaScript is handled by Firefox itself, and the Java plugin is not needed to run scripts.

I don't know what's happening. There is a web site I use frequently that tells me "JavaScript is not enabled Please enable it in order to use TextNow.com!"

I did that about:config thing and have a line: javascript.enabled with value "true." Doesn't that tell me Javascript _is_ enabled?

Hi ErnieLane, since this question is already marked as solved, could I convince you to start a new question and include your full Firefox setup details (the "ask a question" process has a share data button somewhere along the way)?
