I am getting the problem where the emails sent at the time my computer was turned off can not be fetched/download upon opening thunderbird.

Q. How do you know there were emails sent to you if your computer was turned off? A. I made a connection where emails sent to my main account will also be forwarded to my gmail account (other account).

Problem: Emails sent to my main account at night will not appear in thunderbird although it was properly received in our mail server and forwarded to gmail account.

Thanks in advance for the help. I am using thunderbird 78.12.0.

Hi Just to be clear - The problem is you do not ever receive those night time emails even after Thunderbird has been opened and had time to download. - are you using POP or IMAP on Thunderbird and on Gmail? - when you forward them from the server to Gmail - it is actually a copy, not just forward? The emails would have to be still on the server for Thunderbird to download them, so if they are moved to Gmail that can't happen. - can you test by cancelling the forward, and sending a message while Thunderbird is off, then opening Thunderbird. Make sure the message sent to the server does not arrive in Gmail. Once we have defined the problem, maybe someone more expert can figure out what's wrong.

It works when I am online (Sending & Receiving) however, when computer is turned off and an email will be sent, such email will not appear at thunderbird.

This is the way it works, and there is nothing you can do about it. You couldn't look at emails anyway while Thunderbird is closed, so I'm not sure what your problem is in the first place.

Emails sent to your account at night will show up in Thunderbird once it has been started in the morning.

... although it was properly received in our mail server and forwarded to gmail account

I'm not sure I understand what that means. You'd need to explain this in more detail.

That seems to be the problem because the emails sent at night will not be fetch or will not appear at thunderbird upon starting up my computer.

Hi Agnes,

Yes you are correct and fortunately your instruction solved the problem. Canceling the forwarding command to gmail solved the problem.

Thanks for your help.
