Speed-dial addon blocked

more options

My firefox suddenly and without warning blocked my start page, the FVD speed-dial addon. I honestly do not care why it did, but how do I get my pages back? I mean I would have appreciated a warning so I can save my pages and links, FFS! And speed-dial also synchronizes these pages across my laptops and mobile, so I lost everything everywhere, because Firefox is an ass??? How do I get the addon back along with my pages and links?

And sure, I don't have to use Firefox if it behaves likes this, blocking my addons without a warning first!

Damn.

Hi!

The addon was blocked, because it willfully violated the rules of Mozilla Add-ons: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/blocked-addon/pavel.sherbakov@gmail.com/77.5.7/

I would ask the developers what do they plan to fix this.

Regards, Balázs

Hi

In 2020, we became aware that the developer of the FVD add-on had begun intercepting search queries that were being sent to a third-party search provider, in clear violation of the Mozilla Add-ons Policies. After a repeated violation we again explicitly told them under which circumstances this type of data collection is not acceptable. At the time, the developer disabled the feature, and we continued to host FVD Speed Dial.

Recently we have become aware that the developer has re-enabled the offending functionality, which remains in violation of AMO policy. In light of these repeated offenses, we have blocked this addon. While we regret the impact that this has had on some of our users, we believe that our commitments to user safety and the importance of user trust in Firefox and its surrounding ecosystem have obligated us to take this action, and we stand by this decision.

I wrote before that I do not care what Firefox's problem is with the addon. But blocking it WITHOUT FIRST WARNING THE USERS is irresponsible and frankly shocking from Firefox. I still want to know how I can get my links back, which are not saved in Firefox in any other way?

So because Firefox has a problem with the addon's developer, they fuck me. Seriously, do you think it is right to not warn everyone using the addon first? :( Because Firefox's bookmarks are a big, not-user-friendly mess, I haven't used it for quite some time, saving my links into the FVD addon. Which are now all gone because Firefox has a problem and an attitude.

Shame.

Firefox is the name of the desktop web browser as Mozilla is the company.

You should be upset with the Author(s)s behind the FVD Speed dial extension as they have broken the policies in past including when it was disabled in 2020 for the same reason it is blocked now. If the extension author(s) had not broken policy by enabling the mentioned offending functions yet again (perhaps they thought nobody would notice this time) then the extension users would still be able to use it.

Any individual(s) or company who want to host extensions on addons.mozilla.org have to agree to policies or risk being rejected, deactivated or removed etc. https://extensionworkshop.com/documentation/publish/add-on-policies/

You do realize that my problem is not that Firefox blocked the addon but the way it did? That it was without prior warning and therefore I lost all my saved links in it?
