Chosen solution

This is a known problem. Unfortunately there is no solution yet, and possibly won't be any time soon. So there aren't very many options. One thing you can try is to start Thunderbird in Troubleshooting Mode. This probably will not fix the problem, but it's worth a try. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/troubleshoot-mode-thunderbird

Do you have the Provider for Google Calendar add-on installed? If so, remove it. A Google Calendar can now be accessed natively via CalDAV, no add-on needed anymore. It's unlikely though that the old provider add-on is related to the crash.

Chances are that the crash isn't happening anymore in recent betas of Thunderbird. As a last resort, would you be willing to try a beta version? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-beta

Thank you for helping. Troubleshooting Mode did not help. I would like to remove the Provider for calender before I try the beta-version. Can you guide me on how to remove it?

You should be able to remove it via the Add-ons Manager.
