After Thunderbird just updated to Version 128.5.0esr today, now all my accounts are saying that the connection is refused. This is coming from three different email services that I have accounts on. I'm assuming it's not an issue with those servers as I can access them just fine with a different email client, and I didn't change any settings. Yesterday it worked, today it doesn't. Only thing that seems to have changed is Thunderbird got updated.

I feel rather obtuse asking, but how do I get my Thunderbird addressbook to sync to gmail contacts? I uninstalled Cardbook, because Thunderbird now does CardDav, I treid to create a new CardDav addressbook by opening my addressbook, selecting new addressbook, and going through the steps to give Thunderbird access to my Google account. But,

  no new address appeared in the list of addressbooks, and 
  the option to create a new addressbook is no longer avaiable/showing.

Addressbook is still not syncing. My server settings are IMAP. I still have three address books: All, Personal, and Collected.

I am flumoxed. John

When I select an email without opening it, and press the Del key on my keyboard, the email used to be deleted - but recently this stopped working. I now have to open an email before I can delete it. Any idea what could have caused this to change and how to fix it?

After updating to 128.4.4esr I can no longer send email - NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED. I can create a new message, hit Ctl-S to save and I get a dialog box of "Status: Cr… (read more)

After updating to 128.4.4esr I can no longer send email - NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED. I can create a new message, hit Ctl-S to save and I get a dialog box of "Status: Creating mail message..." and a progress indicator that is at 100%. I also get an error of "Unable to save your messages as a draft. Sending of the message failed".

If I attempt to send and email I get the same creating mail message and an error dialog box saying "Sending of the message failed".

In the error console I see

  • Bulleted list itemSending failed; , exitCode=2152857621, originalMsgURI=imap-message://andrew@defaria.com/INBOX#67121
  • NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED: Component returned failure code: 0x80520015 (NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED) [nsIFile.createUnique]

I looked at my ~/.thunderbird directory and the permissions are 700. I'm on Ubuntu 24.04.

I have encountered the following issue about a year now .I have been using Thundebird some years now and I have created my contact list . Even though I have added in the address book all the contacts I needed and named them as I wanted. When I receive a mail the correspodent appears differently from what I have named the contact.Propably as the person sent me the email have named himself.The same applies in sent mails as well.No matter what I did ,it seems like the database from the address book is not linked to the mail database whatever I do. Please advise

I have created a new Firefox profile. Now I want to copy my settings of the Developer Tools to this new profile. This should also include the custom device settings for the Responsive Design Mode. Is there a file (or files) in the profile-folder that contains these settings, and can I copy this file (or files) to the new profile? I found this link about copying profile files, but it doesn't mention devtools settings.

Restarted my PC and on boot found all my containers deleted. Bookmarks are fine. Browser settings are fine. Other Extensions and Addons are fine. Tabs from the last session were stll there. Everything else is all good. FireFox Multi-Account Containers is the only thing that's gone wrong.

Looking at my containers.json (my best guess on what to check) they're all back to default. There's no "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop.

This happens ~3 times a year usually after an update or if there's a sudden shutdown due to power loss.

I've used FireFox Sync before and rather than helping, it ruined everything for no apparent reason. It duplicated the current containers, restored and duplicated old deleted containers and sites stopped using their designated containers.

It sucks. It really really sucks.

Is there a way to make local backups of containers and their designations? Just knowing exactly what to backup would be a massive help and make this a lot less distressing.

Hi Thunderbird-Team, I am using Thunderbird 128.5.0esr (64-Bit) on Linux (openSUSE Leap 15.5). When I want to attach a file to a written e-mail the file-selection dialog does no longer offer a line-edit-control where I can copy-paste an absolute path to the attachment file. I always have to click through the full directory path in order to specify the file that should be attached. Is there any chance to input a file path via keyboard or just by mouse-paste? I am currently using Microsoft Edge and am looking for a new browser to use. I went through the trouble twice now in setting up Firefox the way I want to work and for it to open certain bookmarks every time I open it. But 2 times now I have closed Firefox and reopened it and each time it not only fails to open the bookmarks I have setup, it also loses the other settings I setup and acts like I am setting it up for the first time. If I can't get this problem fixed I guess I will start looking at other browsers.

Suddenly, the homepage has started overriding all my tabs. For example, I can be writing this and it will be gone and replaced with the homepage. Or, a new tab will pop up on its own with the homepage. This started yesterday. I've tried troubleshooting... I've tried redoing the settings... I've yelled a lot.
