been running thunderbird beta for a while, regularily updating to latest beta today started thunderbird and had the new setup popup tried starting using thunderbird.exe… (read more)

today started thunderbird and had the new setup popup
tried starting using thunderbird.exe -p and creating new profile then starting import wizard and pointing it to my original profile, import works, but again just get the new setup screen on restart
checked my profile, contains over 3gb of data, all files intact, i have almost a dozen acccunts setup in it from various providers
ver odd, any ideas please?

My wife is having a severe problem with Thunderbird. Here is some detail: With a "fresh" invocation of Thunderbird, all incoming messages are received, in two different email accounts. Outgoing messages can be sent. After a while (can be two days, can be a week or more), the following error message is received when sending an outgoing message: Your message was sent but a copy was not placed in your sent folder (Sent) due to network or file access errors. You can retry or save the message locally to Local Folders/Sent... Once this error message happens, all incoming mail (for both email accounts) stops. If she then terminates Thunderbird, and restarts it, she will normally get an error message during the restart, which states that "Thunderbird is already running, but is not responding." If she accepts to terminate this non-responding process, then the next restart of Thunderbird is successful, and she can receive (and send) messages again. The workaround (as noted in another posting) to save the sent message to a local folder allows the current outgoing message to be saved, and she can then copy the saved message to the proper "Sent" folder after she restarts Thunderbird. However, this is very annoying---having to save locally and then recopy---especially if there are several messages in progress when the failure occurs. In addition, it does not "solve" the problem; a restart is still necessary. A similar error message is presented sometimes, when Thunderbird is saving a draft message. It speaks of "a copy was not placed in your draft folder" (or something similar; I don't remember the exact details). When this error message appears, Thunderbird goes into the same state as above: no incoming messages are received, and a Thunderbird restart is the only fix. Please note that this problem has been showing up for at least the last six to eight months. It seems to be getting more frequent, to the point where my wife now explicitly restarts Thunderbird every couple of days. Her environment: Windows 10 Enterprise; Dell tower; Thunderbird 128.4.2esr
I am also running Thunderbird on my laptop. I have six email accounts. I have never seen the above error message in relation to sending messages, although I have seen it concerning the saving of drafts. However, I have never seen it prevent the receipt of incoming messages, the way my wife has. My environment: Windows 10 enterprise; Lenovo laptop; Thunderbird 115.3.1

Hi, my PC runs windows 10 and thunderbird loads but then that's it there is next to zero operation, no get new messages, just locked🤔 All settings are the same as K9 on my phone and email works there. I uninstalled and reinstalled thunderbird but that altered nothing. Antivirus and security are normal and trouble shooting says nup so I'm lost🤷 I have a modest knowledge in regards to this and all ' advice ' online has had zero impact. I've been using Thunderbird for years and never had any major problems until a few days ago. But ever since you automatically installed Version 128.4.2esr on my HP desktop running Windows 11, all I can get from Thunderbird is a blank screen unless I go into Troubleshoot mode. Subsequent automatic installation of Version 128.4.3esr did not help.

When I attempt to send an email (Thunderbird receives emails just fine), a window pops up with my email address in Xfinity and requires my password. When I try to put in password, an error message comes up that says I'm not authorized on this page.

I'm using and working frequently alternatively on two different boots on my computer (Windows 7 x64 and Windows 11) because I have no other choice (for software compatibility reaons).
All my mail archives (more than 20 years) have been transfered trhough the years from several machines and softwares to one Thunderbird instance on the Windows 7 x64 system. I have also 12 differents active email adresses (personnal, business, associative, etc). Knowing that some emails are configurated with pop servers and some others with imap. And this could not change.
Ideally, I simply need to install another Thunderbird instance on the Windows 11 boot, and I would like this thunderbird to load and save all new mail data on the folders situated in the windows 7 x64 drive.
Or in the worst case, to create an exact copy of the windows 7 x64 thunderbird on the windows 11 boot, but I need that when I'm on Win 11, all my written mails, including all drafts, sent mails on pop accounts, every single data should be also synced permanently on the windows 7 thunderbird, such as when I'm working on the Win 7 boot, I get everything exactly like on win 11, and when I'm working on the Win 11 boot, I get everything exactly like on win 7.
Notice that I need to continue to use pop accounts in order to get emails archive saved into my hard disks, this system is far more reliable than imap for achiving from my +20 years experience.
I just want a permanent and integral sync between the two boots, or better, exploit directly all the contents on my windows 7 boot, without the need of copying everything and syncing everything and multiplicate the enormous amount of email datas on 2 hard drives.
Is there a simple solution for that ?

Forgive me if this is in the wrong place,.. as I cannot find a home for 'calendar' related issues. Currently running 128.4.3esr (64-bit) on ubuntu 24.01 release with all updates applied. Email and calendar have been working,.. what I have changed to break it I do not know For the last month or so I have had issues that I cannot dismiss any reminders,.. I have found the thunderbird console, but this alas does not give me any indication as to what the problem entry might be,.. I have seen threads with solutions etc.. but these all have other apparent causes. I have a route calendar,.. associated with my primary email address, and have linked in my gmail account and its calendar. As to which calendar event is the rogue one,.. I have no idea,..as it does not flag issues in the console. I have found the 'What went wrong? There was an unexpected type. This occurs often occurs with undefined or null values.' And run some of the code given in the console,.. but I have to confess,.. not sure what output is telling me.
I have wondered if exporting my entire calendar,.. then re-importing into a new database,. in the hope that this would act as a clean-up, or would this just take to 'bad data' with it, are there any clean-up tools I could use? Any help pointers will gratefully received.. KR

I had a session yesterday w/Mr. Med and he restored my (accidentally deleted) primary email account and its messages, but now I can send emails from that address because I get an error that the Thunderbird-supported address cannot be connected to the Comcast server. (My secondary Thunderbird-supported email address works w/Comcast just fine.) I spent the last hour+ on telephone w/Comcast and was told it was a Thunderbird connection problem. Please help.

What appears to be random, I get the message: The account myname@verizon.net is being processed. Please wait until processing is complete to get messages. Then about 2- 3 days later TB dumps days worth of emails from the Yahoo server (Yahoo services verizon.net). I also have a second email account on an old Windows 7 computer and I do NOT get this hang-up. The settings are IDENTICAL on all the TB accounts.

After the 128 update I only get a bar with minimize, maximize and close when opening TB, clicking Reply, when there are calendar notifications, clicking Help, etc. The bar is so faint I have trouble finding it, and it's tedious having to stretch the bar into a real window every time. I haven't found a setting that addresses this; is there one? If not, is my only option to revert to an earlier version? I'm on Linux Debian.
