Firefox briefly freezes after entering Options
Firefox briefly freezes after I go to Tools > Options. When I look in Task Manager > Processes, I notice that the memory jumps to about 5GBs and then back down to a reasonable number before Firefox unfreezes. This is consistent every time I open a new Firefox process (i.e. if I close all FF windows and do the same thing it happens again).

This should be fixed in 57.0.1 Try Help then About what version you running ? if 57 shut down Firefox and restart then Help and About again to try force update.
Go to the Firefox 3 Bar Menu --> Help ? --> Troubleshooting Information Page and take a look in the Accessibility section if accessibility is set to "true" there. if yes, go to the Firefox 3 Bar Menu --> Options --> Privacy & Security panel and under Permissions check the setting to Prevent Accessibility Services from accessing your browser. Restart Firefox
You can still turn off Accessibility if it is turned on regardless, it is not needed unless have accessibility issues.
Test.............it.............
If still issues : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer then https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
I'm only using Firefox 57 in test profiles at the moment, but... I have a similar freeze in Firefox 56, which also has the reorganized Options page. I suspect it's because Firefox is processing the large Applications list (large relative to a fresh profile). I used to have that same delay accessing the Applications panel on the previous layout of the Options page. Unfortunately, if this is the issue, I'm not aware of any solution.
Hi,
I just verified that I am running 57.0.1 and that Accessibility is set to False. I had also refreshed the FF settings before I posted this question. I am still having the memory/ freezing issue.
Is this a known issue with 57? I was afraid that I got a virus or something. As long as it's not the latter then it is just an inconvenience for now but it is still happening on my system after doing what you had suggested.
Thanks.
