I think that the only way to fix this would be deleting (or renaming as a test) favicons.sqlite in the profile folder with Firefox closed. You will have to visit each bookmark to restore the favicon.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

You can use test.favicons.sqlite for the rename or, what I prefer, to faviconsOLD.sqlite to have the file appear in an alphabetically ordered list underneath the original file and is easy to find.

You need to close Firefox before trying to rename or remove favicons.sqlite. If you close Firefox then the SQLite temp files favicons.sqlite-shm and favicons.sqlite-wal should be removed leaving only favicons.sqlite.

Thanks much. I renamed the file. And am now accessing the sites on my Bookmarks Toolbar. They are repopulating nicely with correct favicons-for sites that do have favicons...I literally have 100s of sites on that toolbar. Seems handy way for me to find things. So it'll take a while. But it is going very smoothly
