Here is the screen shot of the blurred text on Google news. Note that the first two news stories have clear text as I did not mouse over them. The other stories have blurry text.

I updated to v20 beta and instead of fixing the problem the text may be even blurrier now. I posted this image in response to another forum question regarding blurred fonts in b17n but the solutions offered seemed to contradict one another and I do not know if they apply to these newer versions as some folks claimed the problem had been fixed in newer releases.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

• Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

Try to set the gfx.content.azure.enabled pref to false or if this didn't help disable Direct2D by setting the gfx.direct2d.disabled pref to true on the about:config page and leave hardware acceleration otherwise enabled.

Same here - just upgraded to V 20 and half my pages are unreadable ! Need an EASY fix....

The quick fix is Google Chrome.

I'm also having this problem. I'm not going to use the fix posted above to try and solve this. Are you kidding? What about the average user. I will just switch browsers.

Turning off hardware acceleration fixed the problem. But, why is that necessary after so many new versions of Firefox have been released.

That way you still have the benefit from hardware acceleration, but may not suffer from rendering issues.

You can also try to uninstall Windows update KB2670838 if you have this update.
