You type 1 letter now and already get a suggestion.

Problem: when you accidentally make a typo on the first letter you insta-backspace and continue typing... to notice later that that excessive letter wasn't deleted! Resulting in lets say "Bnewegg.com" or no url predictions to appear because of "Bnew" instead of "new".

Suggestion. Let me set a minimum character length of url autoFill to appear in about:config. browser. ""urlbar.autoFill.trigger""

Additional info: - Who does write one letter and picks suggested url anyways? They are oftenly not accurate anyways because of too big list of sites begins on those. - Some virus or fishing sites possibly exist exactly similar to popular sites but with additional excessive letter at the beginning. - This doesn't break anything, this is just an option to set. - When you start typing address you may just come close to keyboard and make a first letter typo due to not fit perfectly fit to notebook.

I'm not aware of a way to prevent storing a faulty URL or prevent Firefox from showing this as a suggestion apart from removing faulty entries.

You can use these steps to remove saved (form) data from a drop-down list:

  1. click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop-down list
  2. highlight an entry in the drop-down list with the mouse or cursor Down key
do not click the mouse or press the Enter key
  3. press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to delete the highlighted entry

I'm not sure there is a technical solution to someone typing Bnew. The B should be deleted when you backspace. I don't know why it wasn't.

On mobile, I'm happy I can get to my most visited site starting with k when I just tap k. On desktop, I probably could be a little more patient and wait for the second letter.

You can submit suggestions for changes to how Firefox works on the Input site:

Thanks for replies, I just wrote an input feedback. But I would like to clarify the problem I described in text because simple "delete URLs from prediction list" won't solve the problem for first letter prediction. Youtube video of clarifying the problem

You can consider to disable auto-fill for the urlbar.

There are two Boolean auto-fill prefs:

browser.urlbar.autoFill
browser.urlbar.autoFill.typed

Thank you, I just tried that but I had to revert because I actually do use urlautofill except I do it after 2 or 3 symbols. But I never use it after 1 sole symbol so I would like to have an option to limit appearance to 2+ letters.

So the proper request would be to create browser.urlbar.autoFill.trigger (default = 1) where users would be able to set custom minimum length of written symbols before autofill to appear. Could you promote this idea to developers?
