I used to have this until a recently installed program decided to change my settings around. Forced my default search to Bing. Forced me to open every new session of Firefox onto same. I uninstalled it, but Firefox never reset back. I fixed my default search, but no matter what I do, Firefox always relaunches and opens up a new tab instead of launching on my last used app tab. I want to stop opening a new home page and just used my last used tab.

I'm using Firefox 97 on Win10 PC.

Does this help? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-set-the-home-page

Type about:config<enter> in the address box. If a warning screen comes up, press the I Accept the Risk button. At the top of the screen is a search bar. Type browser.startup.homepage

What is the value? Right-click and select Reset to restore its default value; about:home

Make sure you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • remove checkmark: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"

In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes".

  • do not clear the Browsing History
  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exceptions for passwords and other website specific data
  • clearing "Cookies" will remove all cookies including cookies with an allow exception you may want to keep

about: config didn't work. And my options are set to restore previous windows and tabs. Which works fine if a nonapp tab is left open when I close. But when just app tabs, it still opens a new tab.

If you close Firefox with only pinned-tabs open then Firefox will open a normal tab on the next start, so that is expected behavior. If you want to open a pinned tab then you need to leave at least one normal tab open.
