Can pinned tabs overuse bandwidth?
Hi all.
Is it possible that having several pinned tabs will increase the bandwidth use? I have the impression that some of the pages that have been pinned keep refreshing periodically, even though the tab is not open...
And my bandwidth use has gone up without a good explanation...
Thanks.

If you pin a tab that automatically refreshes like some page do then this will happen regardless if the tab is pinned or not. If the title of a pinned tab changes because of a refresh then that tab gets some glowing to notify you.
Note that you can disable pinned tabs from loading automatically when you start Firefox by setting the related pref to true on the about:config page.
- browser.sessionstore.restore_pinned_tabs_on_demand (pinned tabs)(false)
- browser.sessionstore.restore_on_demand (default as set in Options/Preferences -> General)(true)
- browser.sessionstore.restore_hidden_tabs (tabs in other tab groups)(false)
Note that Tab groups will be gone in Firefox 45.
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
