How to change tab behavior in Quantum
Not supporting Tab Mix Plus really compromises the flexibility and usability of FF. What other options are there in Quantum to customize rows of tabs, alter tab opening/closing behavior, multiple levels of session management, and the myriad other options offered by Tab Mix Plus?
The flexibility TMP added was a foundational reason for me using FF for these last many years. I've been using FF less, and Chrome more. For my use, Chrome is less resource intensive. Without the advantages of Tab Mix Plus and other plugins, FF is moving toward a lack of usefulness for me.
Within a few months, I'm likely to have moved on if there's no solution. This after nearly 15 years of use. I really hope that someone at Mozilla knew the magnitude of this problem before they made the decision to "upgrade" to 57. What effort is being made to speed the development of TMP for Quantum?

This is discussed in a lot of threads because people have different features they need. I have not read all of them, but I'll attempt a high level summary:
- Some settings for opening things in a new tab or background tab exist in Firefox and some do not
- Please identify what you want to change
- Some might be added in a future release
- Some missing features may be found in other extensions, but certainly not all of them. For example:
- Divert external links to new tab, keep other links in same tab: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/open-link-with-new-tab/ (after installation, you must go to the Add-ons page and set the extension's options to have any effect)
- For session management, look at: My Sessions and Tab Session Manager
- Some layout options can be implemented using custom style rules
