Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?

If the latter happens then you have a problem with cookies that are not kept or the file that stores the cookies is corrupted.

The Hotmail (login.live.com) site uses JavaScript to create the login form and the Firefox Password Manager doesn't work in such a case (Bug 518516)

This is the situation. How can I get around it?

The problem is that, while Hotmail used to store a list of all your e-mail addresses in a drop-down menu, so when you wanted to sign in, you could just click on the address you wanted to access from that small window, Firefox 4 prevents that from happening.

Now we have to type in our e-mail addresses every time we want to sign in, despite the fact that our settings are exactly as suggested in the notes above.

This is not a request to get hotmail to save passwords, but to restore the function it has had all along, to "remember me" and fill in my e-mail address, just like the drop down window of Facebook, just like this website "remembers me" etc.

This is also not a problem with Firefox storing passwords. Go to the sign-in window and you will see where there's a little blank window called "Windows Live ID" we should be able to click on it to access the drop down menu. No matter how many times we type in the ID, it will not save. Thanks

Yeah, Its exactly what ceemo explained and I remember that Firefox 3.6 used to remember it.

the problem seems to be an error in Firefox 4.0; therefore, the remedy is to revert to Firefox 3.6

does this sound correct?

i had firefox 4, did not like it and reverted back to 3.6 but still have to sign in each time , also found it now takes almost 15 minutes to open mozilla firefox site, can anyone please help me get back to the way it was .

thanks mable; better to sign in each time than to revert to 3.6 and wait 15 min. to get on firefox.

it is past time for firefox techies to resolve this problem.

how about it?

The issue is, in my opinion, the form & search history. we get used to that helpful feature that remember the data you type in forms. Previous versions of FireFox used to remember the hotmail accounts that where previously typed in the login page, despite the annoying option provided by hotmail itself. So when you come back and start typing, FF showed a list of accounts (all that where typed before). LIVE WAS SIMPLE AND EASY.

For some reason (we expect to get to know someday) FF4 don't do that (in hotmail) other forms it remembers ok.

if I revert to IE I can see a list of all my families hotmail accounts but in FF I can't. I hate having to retype in my email address each time. Now, after the latest upgrade, it won't even remeber the last login! You can either rmain logged in (no chance) or face a blank login in page.

Come on Mozilla - please listen to your users - they are not happy!

It can't be this hard firefox doesn't save hotmail usernames or passwords and it's really annoying give the people what they want make it more user friendly not less. Hello! anyone from firefox there can you help your users or is it back to explorer? Just fix it!

You can only use save form data to save the user name for Hotmail.
Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > History: "Remember search and form history"

As posted above, Hotmail uses JavaScript to create the input form and the Firefox Password Manager doesn't work in this case until Bug 518516 gets fixed.

I think I finally figured this Hotmail thing out - I went into about:config and changed the signon.autologin.proxy to "true". Assuming you have saved the live.com cookie as an exception, this should now show your username as soon as you to begin typing the first letter (autofill). Let's hope it keeps working...

Sorry folks - didn't work after all. As soon as you clear your cookies, you have to re-enter your login information. Usually, this only happens on hotmail. What's REALLY irritating isn't so much that Mozilla hasn't rectified this problem (as I assume Microsoft keeps updating the javascript to reset every session). But the fact that no addon program has yet to come up with a way to permanently save cookies when you've cleared the folder is maddening. I've tried every program out there and none work. How hard can it be?!?!?
