been using Thunderbird 24.3 for years, changed email password need to update
I am using a MacBook Pro and I did the following: Pref>Passwords>Saved Passwords then removed the account in which I changed the password. I shut down Thunderbird, even did a shutdown of whole system (second try). When opened Thunderbird it prompted me for new password which I entered. Still fails!!!
This password has worked on my iphone and ipad, just cant get Thunderbird to accept password. I do not want to recreate the account because I will loose all my past emails, sent, rcvd etc.
Any help appreciated!

Do you have anti virus? A leading cause of password problems.
What mail provider, and what are the account settings in Help menu > troubleshooting Information.
I do have an anti virus, avaist.. but this has been working up until I need to change the PW. I just checked via Preferences and Passwords and the correct one is in there! just dont get it.. and I worked tech support years ago configuring email account this is what is stumping me.. i figured it out for my iphone and ipad, they had TWO places to enter password. incoming and outgoing. I can not find but one place on thunderbird. It is also happening on my Mac mail. Cant win!!
figured it out.. there was an oversized email which locked up my accounts. I went into my comcast account via webpage and deleted the email and all came through.. Jesh that has not happened in a long time!!! Remember back in the old days when emails were too big!!!
I do actually and Incredimail users were banned from mailing list routinely because of their graphic heavy emails.
