If I try to open troubleshooting information, firefox hangs.
Firefox hangs when I try to open "troubleshooting information" under the help menu. It also hangs on multiple websites. I have reset firefox, uninstalled and re-installed, deleted user.js files, renamed the places.sqlite file, turned off hardware acceleration, and deleted the sessionstore.js file. Nothing works. How do I fix this? I'm running win 8.1.

Actually, I had tried creating a new profile, and it didn't solve the issue. But I found the problem, my computer had (for unknown reasons) deleted the troubleshooting add-on, once it was re-installed, it works fine. I haven't encountered further issues with hangs on websites yet, if I do, I'll be back.
Note that this can be caused by a problem with prefs or with hardware acceleration in Firefox. You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling the hardware acceleration setting and may have to hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox.
It is possible that a reset carries over the problem, so a completely new profile might be worth a try if it happens again.
