Why does my download location change on it's own?
When I'm saving pictures or something, my download location changes sometimes--on it's own--between subsequent downloads. Ex: I'll save a pic from one website (site A) somewhere on my PC (hard drive location A), then I'll go to another website (site B) and save a pic to a different location (hard drive location B) on my PC. Then, if I go back to site A, but I want to save a pic to location B again this time (like what would happen if Firefox simply remembered my last download location), it changes my download location back to download location A, as if it is remembering a separate download location for each website. I do not want it to do this. How do I make Firefox go back to the way it used to be and simply remember my last download location no matter what site I downloaded something from?

Hi, have you tried "Tools, Options, General tab and choose "always ask me where to save files"?
Yes, I have that checked. It's weird. Maybe there is an option in about:config that got changed during the upgrade? Is this a new feature? I can see how it would be useful, but for me it's annoying because I forget to always check the location and end up saving things in the wrong place. I am also using the Download Statusbar add-on, but I've been using that forever and never had a problem. I looked for options in that add-on, too, and found nothing relevant to my problem.
Additional info: The save window pops up, asking me where to save, but it's just that it already has an unwanted save location chosen that I have to change before clicking save. Sometimes it's the same location as my last save, and all of a sudden it's not--usually when I have changed to another tab/URL that I was on a while before.
To avoid messing up my saves and wasting time looking for them, I download everything to my desktop and then send them to the right location.
That would be too time-consuming for me to do that all the time. I'll probably try reinstalling Firefox with no add-ons and see if that changes it, and test it out with each add-on I install.
Figured it out. Apparently it was a feature introduced in version 7, but it is now considered a bug because everyone hates it, and it is now being worked on.
