How do I make Thunderbird 3 look and feel more like Thunderbird 2?
There are a number of changes that can be made to the look and feel of Thunderbird Version 3 that make it more like the version 2 interface. Remove buttons in the message's header
If the large header bar on messages with the reply button in the header is not for you, install the Compact header add-on. After installation, you can customize the toolbar to put the , and other buttons on the main toolbar as they will disappear when the add-on reduces the header to the old view. Right-click the toolbar, select customize and drag the buttons you want to the toolbar.
Display messages in their own windows instead of a tab
You might also want to display messages in their own window rather than in a new tab. Select

The missing message count in folder view can be cured by installing the Extra Folder Columns add-on.
Customize the folder view
The folder view can be changed to All Folders from Unified Folders if you don't like the new unified appearance with all in-boxes clumped together. Simply select the menu.
