Make access to bookmarks faster?
Is there a way to recreate the old school way of using bookmarks? Example: Next to the address bar an icon for bookmarks... Click the bookmark icon A list appears with all your bookmarks (which you're able to click/grab and reorganize their order) Double click the bookmark you want and the page is launched.
Two clicks, done.
Vs...
Click the bookmark icon |||\ Click bookmarks Cross fingers and hope its recently used... IF NOT continue... Click Show All Bookmarks Click in the Search field Take hand off mouse and start typing to search for the bookmark you want Double click found bookmark Done. That's like 5 clicks, searching, typing and some irritation that your bookmark isn't always in the same place where your muscle memory wants it to be.
Oh, of course there's the other option: Click on the address bar Take hand off mouse Type the name of the bookmark (if you remember it) Search through the multiple options that come up verify the url is correct Click on correct "bookmark"
For a network admin who just wants to quickly get to a page to view stats on servers, distribution groups, Application and Desktop failures, or quickly get to your web hosting interface to update a certificate...the last thing I want is to begin a process to find my "shortcut" / bookmark so I can complete a task that takes less time then using the bookmark process. Really frustrating...
Firefox is seriously faster than Chrome but this bookmark thing has me thinking about finding another alternative.

With one of the Firefox update, the Library icon was made to be the primary way to access bookmarks, along with other things. However, the traditional Bookmarks Menu button is not gone.
You can add the Bookmarks Menu button to the Firefox toolbar by customizing Firefox. More information on customizing the Firefox toolbar can be found in the Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars documentation.

Hi Wesley, I realize I can add the Bookmark menu to the toolbar. I in fact explained the steps of using it.
My question is related to modifying that to make it faster and more simple to use. Instead of the current workflow which is convoluted requiring more steps/clicks.
Only 4 sentences this time, maybe the whole thing can be read now?
Wesley is right, try this solution:
- Click on the Library
icon on your Firefox toolbar.
- Click on Bookmarks, then click on Bookmarking Tools.
- Click on Add Bookmarks Menu to Toolbar.
- A Bookmarks Menu
icon will be added to your toolbar.
- A Bookmarks Menu
- Click on the new Bookmarks Menu icon. You should get the same Bookmarks Menu as in earlier Firefox versions and able to access your bookmark with 2 clicks.
Or use { Ctrl + B } to open the Bookmarks Sidebar, which works as it always has worked.
Note that Firefox also comes with a pref to leave the drop-down list open, so you can open multiple bookmarks in tabs without the need to reopen the drop-down list.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
There is also the Bookmarks menu on the menu bar.
