I can't get back to reply to a response to an earlier question. I've have tried all afternoon.

My response to the members post is this:

Will try to post this reply again. Used imap settings. Old computer had pop3. Provider is earthlink.net. Contacts were in Thunderbird on old laptop and on the mail server. Geek Squad transferred data files but no programs.

There was something in the setup that asked whether to use internet or local. I chose local and that could be the problem. I uninstalled and tried to reinstall again. However, I didn't have to set up again.

Please tell me what the best way to get back to this post. It took me quite a while.

Thanks!

Your original post is at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1440147 You can always find your posts by clicking your id in upper right and a window opens with a link to your profile which lists your posts.

On your question, IMAP accounts are managed at the server level. They are removed only when you delete a message, whereas in POP accounts, the messages are deleted from server after being downloaded to PC. The contacts would be in the file called abook.sqlite on your old PC and cam be imported at Tools>import
