When composing an outgoing message in Thunderbird, is autosave to Draft an option?

I'm running Thunderbird 128.4.3esr (64-bit) under Windows 10, and have been a Thunderbird fan for at least 2 or 3 years. I can't believe that, up until now, my outgoing messages were all just very short, but after a recent Thunderbird update I now am interrupted when composing an email message, with a notification that my message is being saved in the Drafts folder. This is somewhat annoying, can that be turned off? I have saved composed message to Drafts manually on many occasions, so I don't want to kill that function entirely, but I'd like to dispense with that pop-up notification that breaks my fragile train of thought. Thanks in advance for any tips.

There must be a way to include links to local files in a message. All of our team use the same file-server and we mapped a network drive. Long ago it was easy, I just installed the local link extension. After that stopped working someone told me to insert it as a 'link' which worked for a while. Now that doesn't work either. Maybe i just don't know how. I searched for 2 hours and found nothing but ancient directions - even the ones for two years ago don't help anymore. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

For the past few weeks I have been having a lot of trouble sending emails either as a new email or a reply or even accepting a calendar invite. The sending function pops up a box saying it is sending the email but the send times out after about 30 seconds. If I keep hitting the SEND button after each timeout it eventually works. Receiving new emails works without issue.

I am running a current Windows 10 pro using Thunderbird 128.4.2esr 64 bit with a basic Windows firewall and AVAST antivirus.

There are two different email providers, Gmail and Bell Sympatico, so I have two outgoing SMTP servers defined. This has been my setup for many years and I haven't knowingly changed anything in Thunderbird settings related to this issue. I think the last change I made was to set the OAUTH option for GMAIL a couple of years ago. I am attaching two screen shots to show the outgoing SMTP server settings.

Some months ago, my email account with Cox.net (pop.east.cox.net) was transferred to Yahoo (imap.mail.yahoo.com). I was able to keep my existing email address (billdinger@cox.net) but in the process, all my pop email at Cox disappeared from Thunderbird. I haven't had time to address this till now.

I have located all the "lost" email under the Thunderbird folder in the C:/Users subfolder. All the mail can be found under C:\Users\Dinger PC\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\ditb93lv.default\Mail. All the mail is in a subfolder called pop.east.cox.net and is either individual files (.msf) or located in separate folders with .sbd extension.

I tried moving the .sbd folders over to the currently active imap.mail.yahoo.com but after restarting Thunderbird several times, they still don't show up. Maybe because they are not on the yahoo server but just on my computer.

There has to be a way to recover these emails and get them into Thunderbird. Can you help?

TB 115.10.1 I have several accounts which all work fine, however when I go in to Troubleshooting information and open my profile folder it is only 2Gb in size. All my mail accounts and associated files are located in a separate 92Gb profile directory with the same profile name (I know where it is). I want to consolidate all this information in to a single profile directory on another faster SSD on my machine.

Creating a new profile mapped solely to a copy of the 92Gb profile folder copied to the new SSD doesn't work -no email accounts display.

If I then add only the set of files in the main directory of my 2Gb profile in to the newly located copy of the 92Gb profile on the faster SSD all works fine, however if I add a new mail subfolder and I can see the name of that new sub folder is located back in the original 92Gb profile on the old hard drive.

How do I fix this? The working 2Gb profile folder is mapping all my mail and accounts to a different location and I can't find out where TB gets the information telling it where the main mail store is. I want to move this main mail store in to the location of my working profile and move the lot to the faster SSD. Thanks for any suggestions.

I'm a Thunderbird novice.

I had Thunderbird working to allow me to read and write messages to the Quicken newsgroup.

Something went wrong (Thunderbird was displaying the Quicken newsgroup name twice - in the left column), but clicking on either of the displayed names produced a blank screen. It did not matter what the read/unread setting said: no messages diaplayed.

So I tried reinstalling Thunderbird - which is requiring me to set everything up again. I struggled to get setup the first time, and this time I'm getting almost nowhere.

First: Thunderbird setup my email account even though I don't want to use Thunderbird for my email. I'm hoping that's just a minor annoyance, though I'd like to get rid of the Thunderbird email account.

But I am not getting anywhere setting up the Newsgroup.

I'm trying to use www.eternal-september.org to get messages from the newsgroup alt.comp.software.financial.quicken - which was working fine before I had to reinstall.

Is there a simple step-by-step guide I can follow to achieve my goal.

Hello,

It's been a while I wanted to try vertical tabs and now is is possible with FF. I was wondering if it is possible to merge the two top rows when using vertical tabs ? (The address and buttons row and the Windows, minimize, resize and close row).

When using horizontal tabs, the top row (minimize, resize and close row) is merged with the tabs row. But when using vertical tabs, you can a "useless" row that takes almost as much space as the horizontal tabs row, so vertical tabs doesn't make you gain that much browsing space.

Thanks

For the love of God. Effective yesterday, why can I no longer open a new tab in Firefox browser on a Windows laptop? Is this a bug or was it an intentional update to delete the visible 'open a new browser' plus (+) icon, and make it elusive, frustrating, and impossible to open a new tab? I found a workaround (right click and select the new "New Tab to Right" option from the list of drop down options), but this circumvention is mindboggling and inefficient at best. Please help. One of the things I have loved about the Mozilla organization for the last nearly 20 years of using Firefox has been the organization's dedication to make internet browsing simple and safe for users. Replacing the 1 step 'open a new browser' plus (+) icon with a 3 step right click move is the opposite of simple. Please troubleshoot.

Multi-Account Tab is on longer loading. I uninstalled it, shutdown my computer, and restarted it, reloaded it back on. Unfortunately, it's still not working. I do have Tab Stash on my computer as well, and it not working either. I guess the two problems are related, but I thought I would start with Multi-Account because I didn't want to lose all my bookmarks.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how it fit this?

Thanks,

Hi,

I seem to be having a really odd issue where each time I restart Firefox, recent addons I've installed will not function or appear in the Add-On drop down menu (despite being meant to appear in such), despite being enabled and still being shown as such when I check settings. They only become visible and functional when I disable and re-enable them.

I've just discovered the same thing seems to happen in reverse too. I recently disabled ClearURLs due to a bug it was causing in Google Drive, yet it appeared in my Add-On drop down menu after restarting. Checking settings showed it to still be 'disabled'.

Things I've tried:

  • Restarting both Firefox and PC.
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling the effected Add-ons
  • Deleting my extension*, compatability.ini and prefs.js files - erasing all my add-on settings yet still not helping. This is the main thing I've suggested on forums like this with similar questions, but has not helped.

It seems to only be effecting the most recent set of add-ons I installed over the last week, as if Firefox keeps trying to work with the Add-on settings I had at a previous date. I've seemingly had some cases where the extensions disable or are uninstalled entirely but I'm not sure this is related, as I think it only happened once.

I suspect it's not to do with the new extensions themselves, given it's effecting all the most recent ones, but I'll list the ones I've seen it effecting here regardless:

ClearURLS (not recently installed, but as mentioned showing similar reverse effects) Undo Close Tab YouTube NonStop Privacy Badger History AutoDelete Don't Accept Image/Webp Decentraleyes Xkit Rewritten Disconnect AI Grammar Checker & Paraphraser - LanguageTool &udm=14

As you can see I recently installed quite a few anti-tracker type extensions which probably overlap in function, mainly just to test them out, so it could be connected to them I guess... but seems unlikely.

Thanks, Matt

Anysearchmanager (ASM) now appears as my search engine when I log on even though duckduckgo is still designated as my default in Firefox. At no time have I elected to use the unsecure ASM. It does not appear in my applications folder and I can't get to it via disable/delete extensions in Firefox. I can still access duckduckgo if I manually override ASM, but that is a pain. And ASM does not show up on Malwarebytes scans.

How can I purge ASM?

Thanks for your help!!!
