Cant sync bookmarks so why is there a html file on the SD card now?
Hi my brother has a lot of bookmarks probably over 5000 and just recently I setup a sync account for him so that he could move his bookmarks over to his new phone but it didn't work, good by to the bookmarks he had saved but because he had Firefox on the SD card the bookmarks were apparently saved as a html to the SD card that's at least what the clerk at the cell phone store said, but I don't buy that I think he was just covering his butt because FF on the desktop saves bookmarks as a JSNO file and it's likely the same for Firefox for Android. So is there anyway to retrieve his books from Firefox sync? Maybe if I go on my desktop and try syncing FF from there I'll be able to. Please help.

HI Baldape, I am not entirely sure how Firefox for Android saves bookmarks to the device, however I do know that they are stored. I have looked it up and it seems to be in the profile folder of the device (is this on your brother's sd card? ) The file name is browser.db that contains the bookmarks and history and you may need a file manager/ES File viewer from the play store to get to: "/ Device / data / data / org.mozilla.firefox / files / mozilla / xxxxxxxx.default"
Any changes you make, make a copy before making them, as I have not tried this before.
In words to your second method, adding the new device to an existing Firefox Sync account I think this is true, but I am double checking in IRC.
Well he cant go on his old phone anymore because he traded it in. So I'll have to try the 2nd method. Speaking of which there's an Android app called Shaman and its a Firefox sync client (read only) hopefully it will allow to at least view his bookmarks, if not is there a way to import bookmarks from a html or jsno file into Firefox for Android?
I do not think so since the bookmarks are stored in a different format on Android.
You can however import those files into another temp profile on desktop then sync that profile to the new phone. (Make a back up of the files you have that have the bookmarks of his first just in case)

Good news his bookmarks are intact now I just need to sync his bookmarks to his phone. His Firefox for Android is already setup to sync. So how should I sync his bookmarks to his new phone?
Most likely attach the same account to both devices. The bookmarks syncing from the desktop will be in the "Desktop" Bookmarks folder on the mobile.

Like I said before his bookmarks are in his FF sync account and where synced from his old phone but they didn't sync on the new one although they did sync on the desktop in the Mobile Bookmarks folder. My question is now what? Do I move them to the Unsorted Bookmarks folder or leave them and try syncing again as is?
No matter what I try I cant get his bookmarks to sync to his phone, and yes there booth attached to the same account.
