In reply emails the system corrupts the TO address by adding characters to the REPLY TO in original email
Click "REPLY" for Replying to an email. The system inserts the REPLY TO address in the TO field, but corrupts it. This causes email to be rejected of course.
Example;- Email from <marion03**@Yahoo.com> received to which I replied. This was sent to <remarion03**@Yahoo.com>. The extra "re" characters were added b the system and not typed by me. The system seems to have picked up the RE from the subject field and inserted it in front of the address and used that!!
It is not specific to any particular email but does not always happen.
This is happening on two different machines so far which have different broadband ISPs, different sets of accounts and different emails. One is an old XP SP3 machine and mine is Win7 . Both are using latest Thunderbird 38.5.1 and the problem started only after the latest update to 38.5.1

Search your address book(s), including Collected Addresses, for <remarion03**@Yahoo.com>. In case it exists delete it.
If not, have the sender check their Reply-To address in their account configuration.
Thanks Christ1 but that is not it;-
a- have checked address books and not due to that. Also effect on 2 different pcs on 2 different accounts and only connection was both the latest version of Tbird.
b-Reply-To address was Ok. Looking at headers in detail all was correct in received message, ie reply to and from were Ok.
It is doing it on different emails, senders, and different addresses etc but not all.
When you look at the TO field it has entered the address automatically as usual but with the corruption.
Having to carefully inspect any relpies and correct them before sending.
Bit of a pain.....Considering winding back to earlier version og TB.
