Hello ellenharper,
Many printing problems can be resolved by clearing the print preferences in about:config. Here's how you do it:
- Enter about:config in the Firefox location bar and press Enter. Click I'll be careful, I promise to continue.
- In the Filter textbox enter print.
- Right-click each remaining setting and select Reset.
Try to print again and see if the issues still occur!

Where is Firefox location bar located?
Had the same problem and have seen it in Firefox and Thunderbird. The print function works in other programs but not in Firefox. I believe that it is the communication between firefox/Thunderbird and the printer. My solution was to uninstall/remove the printer in windows/devices/printers and then "rediscover" the printer. When asked if I wanted to use the existing driver, I said NO and reinstalled the default driver. I did not reboot the PC, restart Firefox or any other thing and it printed the first time. Hope this helps.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU...............
I have called my printer help line and told them of this miracle!!! I have been on the phone for at least 2 frustrating hours and they almost solved this problem... they told me about the about:config thing but didnt go far enough... when I applied your solution of resetting ALL the print lines the problem WENT AWAY.. HALLILUAH!!!!
THANKS AGAIN!
olebear - the location bar is the address box where you type in url's for websites.
