You can install Firefox 28 without removing the beta. This will leave your personal data in place. You can get Firefox 28 from this page:

https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ (scroll down to your language)

(If you prefer to uninstall Firefox 29 first, make sure NOT to remove your personal data (bookmarks, etc.) because there is no undo for that.)

Noter everyone will be changing to that version at the end of the month.

No need to do any uninstalling or deleting, just go to the Firefox downloads page and install that. Make sure you do NOT use any options to remove personal information or you will destroy your passwords bookmarks and settings.

BETA CHANNEL

Beta is designed for the slightly more experienced users of Firefox. In my opinion it does have some plus points over the standard Release

  • You get any improvements, new features and most fixes 6 weeks early.
  • Thee is always a secure downgrade path to a version you will know works. (Because the Firefox ordinary Release will have already been used by the Beta channel user, before it became the Release).
  • Beta users spot many faults early and have a chance to report them so they are not included in the versions the majority use.

Inevitably it may have occasional problems and issues that is what the beta Release is for a final look at the new version. But it has already been tested as the pre release Nightly and Auroora before it gets to this stage.

FIREFOX 29 (Australis)

Some big changes coming up maybe now is a good time to look at

(There will be better links but I have not got my bookmarks to hand at the moment)

  • How to make the new Firefox look like the old Firefox
This explains how to modify it. There is also an article explaining the new features but I do not have the link.
