Coupons.com plugin disappeared after upgrade to FF v21, and can't be reinstalled
The Issue.... Coupons.com plugin disapeared after upgrading FF to v21 (from FF Help Menu>About) I then was prompted to install the plugin when i went to print a coupon from coupons.com... the installation shows it succeeds with no issues, however the plugin is still not showing in the plugin list, and of course coupons don't print (You are prompted by coupons.com to download the plugin...over and over again)
How it happened..... I almost never reboot the PC. Before today everything was working fine. I didn't reboot PC, but decided to upgrade FF to latest version (previous was 20.something)... because i was getting a really long (and context insensitive menu when right clicking anything).
The upgrade appeared to run flawlessly, but then the issue with coupons.com became apparent, and upon a quick look in about:plugins, i noticed the coupon.com (coupon printer) plugin is no longer there....
I closed all browsers, uninstalled the Coupons.com plugin (from Add/Remove programs), and verified that Internet Explorer can't print coupons anymore from coupons.com. Then i reinstalled the plugin (from coupons.com) and Internet Explorer was once again able to print coupons. This means the plugin is being installed on the PC, and while Internet Explorer works, Firefox doesn't (since this version 21)

Hello-
A new version of the coupon printer has been released to address the plugin issue created with version 21 of Firefox. Please visit http://install.coupons.com using Firefox and reinstall the coupon printer. It is not necessary to uninstall the previous version, or edit the Firefox configuration file.
If you've followed these instructions and are still experiencing issues, please email your contact information to socialmedia@couponsinc.com and I'll be happy to reach out to you directly and assist.
Thanks, Greg Coupons Support

It is possible that this plugin is installed in the plugins folder in the Firefox program folder.
- (32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
- (64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
You can set the plugins.load_appdir_plugins pref to true on the about:config page to make Firefox scan the "<install>/plugins/" directory for plugins.
You can alternatively move plugins from "<install>/plugins/" to <install>/browser/plugins/ to make Firefox find them again.
More troubleshooting:
1. Downgrade works. downloaded FF v20 from https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/20.0/win32/en-US/
2. Then i closed my FF V21 using ctrl-alt-del (to save all my 40+ tabs and windows)
3. Installed the FF v20 without uninstalling anything. The coupons.com plugin showed up in the plugin list TWICE...that is unexpected... (i installed it twice during the FF V21 saga...). But it worked fine.
So... there's something wrong with FF v21...(i think a lot of other plugins went missing as well in v21, but i just don't have the time to go back and forth to check...i just noticed a much shorter list in about:plugins)
hello tinvaltino, some background on this issue is explained here: www.ghacks.net/2013/05/15/why-you-may-have-lost-access-to-plugins-or-extensions-in-firefox-21/

Hi TinValtino1,
I looked into the issue and you're right, Firefox doesn't install the coupon printer addons like it should. Here's a work around for you:
Launch Firefox and type about:config into the address bar (note, tread lightly here, as it is Firefox's configuration file and you want to make sure you make any inadvertent changes).
Scroll down the page and locate the line "plugins.load_appdir_plugins". Double click the line to change the Boolean operator from false to true. Close Firefox.
Use Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Plugins. Copy these two files: npMozCouponPrinter.dll and npCouponPrinter.dll. Now navigate to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Browser\Components and paste the two files into that folder. Close Windows Explorer.
Launch Firefox and when you do, go to Tools->Addons and you should now see the Coupon Printer Manager files again. You should also be able to print coupons from Coupons.com without any problems.
Thanks!
Thanks Greg (if you work for coupons.com, it's awesome you guys keep an eye out on these forums)
..and Thanks all...
The link explains it in detail. I took the easy fix and enabled the "plugins.load_appdir_plugins" in "about:config".... All my plugins are back.
Thank you Coupon_Support! I followed your advice and as soon as I changed the Boolean operator from false to true, my coupon printed immediately! I didn't even need to follow the rest of your steps. I truly appreciate the help.
The fix works perfectly, thanks much.
Hi - did this change but still have a problem - Thanks for the helpful info!!!!
I do not have this line when I type in about config: plugins.load_appdir_plugins, so I have no idea how to fix the Boolean operator to true. Now what can I possibly do to print coupons?
rushgirl,
Are you running Firefox 21? Or an early version which doesn't have that preference?
I took advice from someone on here and downloaded 20 about an hour ago, and got rid of 21. I tried to find this about config line a few days ago when I still had 21 and it was not there at that time either. Thanks for the reply! :)
Hi Everyone,
The company has posted a new release of the coupon printer that fixes the Firefox issue without having to change anything. Just go to http://install.coupons.com and re-install the coupon printer.
Thanks, Greg Coupons Support
This has happened to me too. None of the solutions worked for me. I can print with IE. As much as I love firefox ,(it has been my default browser for a long time), if this can't be resolved , I can't live with it.
Hi YerBlues,
Have you gone to the website above and tried to reinstall the coupon printer? That should resolve the issue. If not, please contact me at socialmedia@couponsinc.com.
Thanks, Greg Coupons Support
After downgrading to Firefox 20 I can now print from Coupons.com but I still cannot print from Target.com. I was told that they use the same coupon printer software so this makes no sense to me.
There has been a change in where Firefox searches for plugins and the plugins folder in the Firefox program folder is no longer scanned for plugins, so Firefox won't find them anymore if they are installed in the plugins folder instead of the "browser\plugins" folder that Firefox now scans.
You can set the plugins.load_appdir_plugins pref to true on the about:config page to make Firefox scan the "<install>/plugins/" directory for plugins.
You can alternatively move plugins from "<install directory>\plugins\" to "<install directory>\browser\plugins\" to make Firefox find them again.
The problem with the plugins is why I downgraded to version 20. I was told the issue with the plugins was only with version 21, which I no longer have on my computer.
Greg, yes I have downloaded the printer . Several times.
