How do I eliminate all duplicate bookmarks?

My bookmarks are sorted A-Z; after the last folder (W in my case) the individual bookmarks are properly sorted A-Z, all of which is as it should be. However, after the last properly sorted bookmark, there is a horizontal line and sorting of the folders starts again. This sort is not a 100% dupe of the first sort, but most of it is. What is the meaning of the horizontal line and why the two separate sorts? How can I get all of the bookmarks (above and below the line) to sort as a single list from A to Z?

Chosen solution

The line is a separator that you may add and remove as required. Sorts work independently within the separated lists.

Open the bookmarks library

  1. Firefox Button -> Bookmarks -> Show all bookmarks
  2. click on a separator, and right click to delete,
(or click where you want one and right click to add)

I have not tried it but you may find the add-on check places useful
