With Live video, you are limited to the codec used by the video creator. After the video is finished, Google will transcode it into its usual range of formats.

Could you check YouTube's HTML5 page to see whether your Firefox has any issues with the formats listed there? Usually the first 5 boxes are blue.

If you have any red boxes among the first five, it could be a settings issue or also: Fix video and audio problems on Firefox for Windows N editions

Hi

I have just tried that link myself and it worked fine (and the Giraffes looked like they were having a great time).

This may have been a momentary glitch with the feed and not Firefox. I recommend trying again (just using Firefox Quantum) and seeing if it will work for you.

Live webcams like that are a great way to see real things that are far away using the open web. If it still does not work for you, please come back here and we will look into a different solution for you.

Thanks for trying. We are at a loss to understand what is happening. We are running Windows 10 on an Dell, Inspiron 13, with Intel i7, 16 GB, etc. It seems that it was working prior to the last major update to Mozilla. The error notice changes each time we try. Any further guidance would be appreciated, i.e. what to check, etc. Thanks

I just checked the suggested link. No red blocks. It shows the following info:

What does this browser support? HTMLVideoElement H.264 WebM VP8 Media Source Extensions MSE & H.264 MSE & WebM VP9 The HTML5 player is currently used when possible. Supported Browsers Many browsers support both the video element in HTML5 and either the H.264 video codec or the WebM format. These include:

Google Chrome Microsoft Edge Firefox * Opera Apple Safari

  • H.264 playback depends on hardware and operating system support.

Well, it sounds as though Firefox should be able to play it. I don't know what else could cause that error that we would know how to fix. "Try again later" is just... not a helpful message, Google.

Experiencing the same problem on an older Windows 7 Professional system. Also tried Mozilla Firefox ESR. Still no luck!

Magically, the problem accessing the giraffe cam cleared up. I can't understand what happened.

I did try several of the suggestions to no avail. Thanks to all who contributed!
