I use Mac OS X 10.9 (the new one, Mavericks), with Firefox 24. On the Mac, in System Preferences > keyboard, you can create a list of words to auto-correct. Actually, it's great - if you have an iPhone, the list syncs there. The list is available to all apps, but I just can't get Firefox to use it. Loads of the shortcuts are essential for me these days. I have a 2-letter code for my email address, for example. In Safari, all these shortcuts work. But FF simply won't allow them. None of them. I figured that if I unticked 'check my spelling as I type' in FF preferences, it would use the Mac OS X spell checker (and thus use my auto-corrections). But it just doesn't work. There's a similar question in the Mozilla archive, but it was resolved by someone saying they used an add-on. That can't be right can it? Surely I don't need to *add* code to FF to make it simply use an OS-wide feature? I'd really appreciate some help here - FF is the only app that I have trouble with here, and as Mac OS X and iOS become more integrated, I'm using these features more. I really want FF to let me use the Mac's built in auto-correct and dictionary! If it's one of my add-ons causing it, I'm happy to disable whichever one it is :)
