Thunderbird est-il compatible avec Windows 8 ?

Oui. Thunderbird fonctionne sous Windows 8 de la même façon qu'il fonctionne sous Windows 7.

Thunderbird est-il disponible dans le Windows Store ?

Non. Il n'y a pas pour l'instant d'application Thunderbird pour Windows 8, vous ne pourrez donc utiliser Thunderbird avec l'interface Modern (aussi appelée Metro). C'est une application de Bureau.

Thunderbird est-il compatible avec Windows RT ?

Non. Puisqu'il n'y a pas d'application Thunderbird pour Windows 8, Thunderbird ne pourra s'exécuter sous Windows RT. En effet, Windows RT n'exécute que des applications du Windows Store.

Donc Thunderbird :

• ne pourra pas s'exécuter sur une tablette Surface RT ni sous aucune autre machine sous Windows RT, c'est-à-dire qui possède un système d'exploitation Windows RT.
• s'exécutera sur une tablette Surface Pro et tout autre version de Windows 8, c'est-à-dire qui possède un système d'exploitation complet Windows 8.

Comment puis-je installer Thunderbird sous Windows 8 ?

Simplement en cliquant sur la tuile du Bureau dans la fenêtre de démarrage : l'interface Metro. Vous ouvrirez alors l'environnement de bureau standard, à partir du quel vous pourrez installer et exécuter Thunderbird.

Pourquoi Thunderbird ressemble-t-il à une ancienne application Windows 7, alors que je l'exécute sous Windows 8 ?

Thunderbird ne possède pas de Thème pour Windows 8. Cependant il existe une extension sur Internet qui permet de donner à Thunderbird un aspect qui se rapproche fortement des applications Windows 8. Vous pouvez télécharger ce module.
