Folks,

I'll put it out there: "Master password"

I've read that it is advisable to have one because if someone/thing getting access to your stored passwords.

Granted.

So you set a "Master password".

So I load FF and one of my web pages is "Pinned" - my g-mail account.

I also have the "usage meter" showing me how much of my monthly allowance I have used.

The g-mail page loads. The netusage doesn't.

So I RMB on it and say "Update usage" and I am prompted for the "Master password", I enter it and the gauge is updated.

But to me it begs the question: How does the g-mail page load if the passwords are locked by the master one?

Ok, maybe cookies, but I just want to put it out there coz I am obviously missing something.

Thanks in advance.

Details like websites remembering you (log you in automatically) are stored in a cookie.

You either need to log out manually before closing Firefox or clear the Google (Gmail) cookies. Note that if you leave tabs open that Session Restore can save these cookies as part of the session data, so letting cookies expire when you close Firefox might not work.

It could be that you were still logged on to one account, while the other was logged out. The master password comes into play only when the password manager is called for a password.

Thanks to both replies.

Yes, it is probably a "cookie" thing rather than a password thing.

My mistake.

But thanks for the feedback.
