Clear History JavaScript app; won't clear history

I have tried repeatedly to clear history, both from the toolbar and from Preferences>Privacy. I consistently get a" JavaScript application, this function has been disabled" error. I haven't disabled anything on purpose, and nothing I can find in your forums seems to work. Can you assist?
