why can't I play embedded mid (.oss) files

Trying to watch and listen to a website that embeds music into their page but I can't hear it (with IE I can hear it). It is a mid file with a .oss extension.

What code is used to play the file?

If BGSOUND is used then that won't work in Firefox.
