How often is Firefox Sync syncing / saving my Bookmarks?
Hello,
last friday I was building a new computer and I thought it wouldn't be necessary to save my bookmarks manually because Firefox Sync is doing this for me.
However once I installed Firefox on the new computer and logged into my Firefoy Sync account the bookmarks that were loaded are a few month old :(
Can I do anything to get a newer version? Is Firefox Sync not syncing my bookmarks always on the newest version automatically?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Changes to bookmarks and other settings should be mirrored across all Firefox synced computers virtually instantly. Check to make sure that you are signed into the computer with the new bookmarks. It may help to sign out of your Firefox account and then sign in again.
At a minimum, each time Firefox is launched it will contact the Sync server to send any changes made since the last use of that Profile to the server and look for any changes sent to the Sync server by the other Firefox installations that are connected to that Firefox Account. And as Wesley has already mentioned, there is near instantaneous communication made to Sync as Firefox is being used.
Bookmarks should always be up-to-date, but on a fresh load to a new Firefox installation it may take some time for all the data to be transferred to the new installation.
My advice is to give it a day or so; and opening & closing Firefox may speed the process up a bit.
Hi, thank you both very much for your replies!
I try to describe it more precisely. I have Firefox installed on my desktop computer, on my MacBook pro and on my Iphone 7.
Then I build a completely new desktop computer. Once I installed Windows 10 one of the first things I did was to install Firefox. Then I logged into my Firefox Sync account and bookmarks got loaded. But as I said the bookmarks that got loaded are a few month old. Not the latest version on my previous desktop computer. I have lke 600 bookmarks in a lot of different folders if that is important.
However I recognized that on my MacBook pro there was always the version of bookmarks at the day I installed Firefox at the Macbook pro and logged into Firefox Sync. That was like a few months ago. It never synced with the bookmarks in my Firefox on my desktop even though I am always logged into Firefox Sync on all my devices. But that never really bothered me cause I don't use the Macbook pro so much. My guess is that now on the new desktop computer Firefox Sync loaded the old bookmarks from my Macbook pro.
The syncing between devices is not even that important to me. But I thought I also don't have to save my bookmarks manually anymore, because I have a Firefox sync account. Well, for me that didn't work out :(
Sync saves one set of bookmarks; no backups are saved within Sync - the bookmarkbackups are saved per device for the last 14 days that Firefox was used per device. So, if Sync never got "updated" after the initial Sync event as you just mentioned, Sync was either not connected to some or all of your devices OR there is an error that prevents Sync from working on one or more devices.
On the desktop devices that you have had Sync connected to for a few months, see if you have any error logs for Sync. Type about:sync-log in the Location Bar and hit Enter.
To get your bookmarks to that new PC the easiest way, see this support article. Worry about fixing Sync later.
