Updated latest ubuntu - firefox help and bookmarks missing - why?
I just updated to the latest Ubuntu and Firefox is missing the Help Menu and the drop down for bookmarks. The only choices from the right mouse menu in the tabs area are: Navigateion Toolbar, Bookmarks Toolbar, Add-on Bar, Tabs on Top and Customize. I cannot even figure out what version of Firefox I have.
It appears I can add bookmarks, but the do not show up when I press the little drop down arrow in the Navigation bar.
In my browser window, there is nothing between the title bar and the navigation bar.
What gives?
Thanks, Herb Miller

Hi Herb,
It would help to know what version of ubuntu you are using. Currently I am in Ubuntu 11.4 LTS using Canonical Firefox 15.0a2 (Aurora)
Try pressing and holding the keyboard Alt key that may display the full set of menu items.
To find out what version you are using try the troubleshooting option. If that does not work from the menu use the location bar where you type in web addresses and navigate to about:support . That is an alternative method of getting the same information.
If you have the bookmarks item on the file or ubuntu bar then the dropdown for bookmarks will not be available, use the bookmarks item you have, or the sidebar that may be accessed using keyboard Ctrl+B
If you turn off the menutoolbar so that the firefox button is available the bookmarks dropdown will reappear (you may need to add it back by customising).
You could have the global menu integration &/or ubufox installed and active.

Try Reset toolbars and controls in Safe Mode , and check it again.

Ubuntu 11.xx displays window menus in the control bar at the top of the screen with the switch to the Unity window manager.
Thanks so much. The key was Ubuntu displaying the menu bar at the top of the screen, but not at the top of the browser window.
Glad we helped and that the problem has been sorted out. Thanks for posting back.
