Setting up new email accounts produces error messages

All my email accounts are hosted at siteground. I recently created a new domain, website, and two email addresses there. Siteground support tested the new email addresses and said they work fine. But when trying to set up these new email accounts in Thunderbird - 128.5.2esr (32-bit) - I keep getting error messages. I know the passwords are correct because I checked them in Settings. After the first step in setup, I always get "Configuration found at email provider". If I click "Done", I get "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password". If I click "Configure manually" and then "Re-test", I get "Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account".

Hi, I don't remember exactly from which release it started, but for a couple of months, quick filtering has not been working properly. For example, when typing the sender's name, the results show emails from other senders, and the sought name can be found in the 'Copy' field or in the message text. However, quick filtering works as before, fully correctly in Troubleshooting mode 😳 Attached screenshots with quick filtering results shown when opening TB in 'Normal' and in Troubleshooting mode.

Good morning, I had asked a question early on Saturday, but was unavailable the rest of the weekend so just now responding to associate Corey Bryan's answer. I had gotten a message that I am using an unsupported version and they recommend downloading the latest stable version.

He said it appears that I'm on the "Release" channel and most likely want to be on the ESR channel. I also mentioned that I am a cave-man when it comes to anything computer and am very skittish about making any changes as I don't how to straighten out any errors that might occur.

He asked me where I installed Thunderbird from and the answer is that I don't know. It was an IT guy that did it many years ago.

So I guess my questions are, if I've been using this version for years, do I need to or should I update it? If so, if I click on the latest stable version of Thunderbird, will that change anything on my computer, aside from getting the newer version of T-Bird? And will my e-mails in Thunderbird look any different?

Tried to backup archiving of local folders to new drive and now everything is gone

I tried to create what I thought would be a backup of my local folders in Thunderbird on a new drive. Instead everything is now completely gone. My last backup was in July so I'm good up to that point, but is there anyway to get back the 5 months of saved emails? I'm guessing not and I realize I should have done a backup before changing anything. I thought I was creating a mirror image outside of Thunderbird. Thanks for any help

2. When I open a message, I have to constantly click backwards until I get back to the inbox. Why is there no button for this?

Installing my Gmail's address book should i import it? should i use my Gmail address? to identify the address book? for example: When writing an email i must type the recipient's email address. Thunderbird is not referring my gmail's address book.

I would want to be using my personal address book that is in Gmail.

Gmail is already sync'd to Thunderbird and appears to be functioning correctly except for the above issue. thanks for any guidance, DW

Recently in my German thunderbird client one of the most important context menu entries for emails (e.g. in the list of emails) just vanished: The item was in German "in Themenbau anzeigen", which is probably something like "show in topic tree". Why is it gone? How can I get it back? I need the menu item all the time to understand the whole discussion of multiple emails belongin together (but I do NOT want to have a list of trees only).

In the past, when I configured my Proton Mail account in Thunderbird, it would explicitly ask for a certificate approval right away.

Recently, it sends a notification (which is sometimes difficult to see) which you need to click to get the pop-up to approve the certificate.

I imagine this affects more than just Proton Mail accounts.

No error messages appear in Thunderbird. The status only shows "Checking mail server capabilities".

Was this behavior perhaps changed in a recent version?

I am using Thunderbird 128.5.2esr on Windows.
