How can I shorten the folder titles in the Bookmarks Toolbar?
How can I shorten the displayed folder titles on my Bookmarks toolbar? I think I did this once before but now I can't find the menu to do this.
Chosen solution
You can remove an installed extension on the about:addons page.
- "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/disable-or-remove-add-ons
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/uninstalling-toolbars

You can do this in the <strike>Preferences</strike> Properties via the right-click context menu of a bookmarks item on the Bookmarks Toolbar. You can also do this in the Details pane at the bottom right in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) for an item selected in the right panel.
- Bookmarks -> Show All Bookmarks

You are telling me how to actually change the name of my folder. I don't want that. I just want the toolbar to display short version of the title. This was previously available but now I can't find how to do it. More "Improvements"?
You may have had an extension that added this feature.
- Roomy Bookmarks Toolbar: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/roomy-bookmarks-toolbar/
I installed the Roomy Bookmarks Toolbar. This is definitely not what I want. Now I can't figure out how to uninstall it. Or any other addon for that matter. Firefox is turning out to be quite a convoluted deal. How do I get rid of Roomy Bookmarks and any other addons I may want to in the future?

Back to cor-el's first answer. I'm not aware of any change in this system. If you right-click on the web site in the toolbar it will show Properties at the bottom of that Context Menu. Click on that and the first line will show the Name which you can abbreviate down as far as you like - even to nothing which I do for many sites where I'm familiar with the Icon. This makes a lot of extra room on the toolbar - never forgetting the drop-down capacity at the end of the line accessed by the arrowheads(>>) at the end of the toolbar. The website will open without trouble and show the full website address. In the Context Menu the line below Name is Location which will also give you the full website name.
Additional - I've just noticed that you spoke of "folder" - another good way to save space. Same story really. You can create a folder on the toolbar and call it anything you like. You don't even have to shorten the bookmark names inside the folder except for tidiness.

Could you give an example of a full version and short version? I don't see where I could set a short version so I don't know where that would come from.
If you mean that you had set a physical maximum width that any folder name (or bookmark name) was allowed to occupy, and the rest was just cut off, that might have been done through an extension or through a custom style rule.
Marked as solved but it was an intermediate question that was answered by cor-el. The original question is still not marked as answered. willban 1 can you expand on your original question with examples?
