Chosen solution

Do you get "NOT RESPONDING" in the title bar?

In case you haven't seen it, this is the standard help article on freezes: Firefox hangs or is not responding - How to fix. Anything helpful there?

This is a very bad report, give some pointers on what sites it is failing and any error you get. People run beta and nightly versions on a daily basis so there is no need to accuse anyone of not testing enough.

it was meant to be a bad report. i have used firefox for years but it seems with many updates i have problems but this one has been the worse. i spend most of my time on facebook or checking email. ever since i applied the update the other day all FF does now is just freeze!! it is not me, it is not my computer and it is not sunspots.....it started with the update!!

Having to reboot the computer is unusual.

Do you notice a pattern with particular sites causing this issue?

Sometimes adding an extension that blocks ads or trackers can reduce the number of stuff that sites get tied up loading. On the other hand, some sites won't work correctly with ads and trackers blocked, so they are not a panacea and will require you to be a little more active in managing pages.

If you've never tried such a thing, you could read more about a popular one here: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/

no new extensions or add-ons. nothing that i have loaded is new and none of them have been changed in any way. the only thing that has changed is...the new Firefox update! it does seem to happen more if i have more than one tab open or the Private Window. but again....it just started this week!

I have just started having the same issue since I updated my firefox. NO new extensions or addons, nothing changed except the update. Why is this posted as solved??? there is no 'not respnding' showing, but the browser freezes. I don't have to restart my pc, but I do need to close the browser and reopen for it to work. Which is ridiculous. All other troubleshooting a prescribed has been done.

This was marked solved by the original poster. If you want more attention to your issue, please start a new question. Speaking of questions:

How do you close Firefox when it's frozen?

How long as you waiting to see whether Firefox becomes responsive again or Windows declares it nonresponsive?

Do you notice a pattern of either particular sites or a particular amount of time after startup where/when this is most likely to happen?
