What is the difference between a regular email mask and a custom domain email mask?

Custom domain email masks work a little differently than regular email masks, as they let you create unique email masks on the fly, without having to generate them on your Relay dashboard first. This will even work when you are away from your computer, out shopping for instance. You can verbally provide something like shopping@exampledomain.mozmail.com and it will be instantly created, when an email is sent to it. For details on how to start using this feature, check Register your own domain with Firefox Relay Premium.

Can I edit a random email mask that I have automatically generated?

No. Relay random email masks are generated automatically. Once a mask is generated, it is not possible to change it.

Can I use symbols when I create a mask with my unique Relay domain?

An email mask can only contain lowercase letters, numbers, periods, and hyphens, and may not start or end with a period or hyphen.

Can I change the name of my Relay unique email domain after it was created?

It is not possible to change the name of your domain once you have created it.

Can I reuse a mask that I already created?

Yes. Click on the Relay icon that appears in the email field and select a mask from your list of current masks to reuse. If the icon doesn’t show, right-click on the email field and select Use existing mask. Optionally, you can copy the mask directly from your dashboard and paste it into the email field of the website you're visiting.

Can I reuse a mask that I have disabled?

To reuse a mask that you have disabled, you will have to re-enable it from the dashboard.

Can I reuse a mask I deleted?

If you delete a custom or randomly generated mask, it is not possible to use it or reuse it on any website. Once they are deleted, they are gone for good.

Can I reuse or generate a mask for any website?

Although Relay allows you to generate or reuse a mask on most websites, some websites may not allow you to register with a generated mask due to specific email requirements of that website.

Can I filter which emails I receive through my masks?

Yes, Relay Premium allows you to filter emails by blocking promotional messages while ensuring that important emails, such as receipts or password resets, are still delivered. Learn how to enable this feature in the article Receive only important emails sent through your masks with Firefox Relay Premium.

What happens if I mark an email as spam?

When you mark an email forwarded by Relay as spam, Relay will automatically disable forwarding for that mask to prevent further unwanted messages. You will receive an email notification about this, along with instructions on how to re-enable the mask from your dashboard if needed.

Can I save a login with an automatically generated mask?

Yes, Relay works well with a password manager to save your generated mask and your password together.

Can I attach files to my messages?

Yes. However, there's a 10 MB attachment size limitation. Also, remember that only attachments are supported. For example, if you embed an image in the email body and not as an attachment, it won't be forwarded.

Can I reply to an email from my dashboard?

Currently, it is not possible to reply to an email from the dashboard. With Premium, you can reply to forwarded messages in your real inbox. Relay will still hide your real email address when you reply. Check Reply to forwarded emails with Firefox Relay Premium for details.

Is there a limitation on Replies I can send?

A user can send up to 100 replies per day.

Is there a character limit for my Relay domain name?

Your Relay domain name can be up to 63 characters long.

I don't see the icon to generate a new mask in the text field, what can I do?

Occasionally, the Relay icon might not show in the email field on some web pages. Right-click on the email field and select Generate new mask from the menu that pops up to use the mask.

What happens if I decide to cancel my subscription and switch to the free version of Relay?

Unlimited random masks: You won't be able to continue creating masks if you're above 5. Emails will continue to go through your previously generated masks.
