when i try to compose new mail the send tab is dark and will not all me to send the new mail
after getting yahoo chat to work in Thunderbird i notice that i can receive new mails from all of my accounts and i can reply to those emails with no problems ... but if i try to compose a new mail using any of my setup accounts it will not allow me to send them ... it appears as if the system thinks i am offline but it is not ... i have been using Mozilla for over 18 years and i hate to use other systems ... please help me with this ..... i am thinking that it has something to do with this yahoo crap because i can not send a message to any offline user with the chat on this desktop not even from the yahoo server .... i see no way to remove the chat from the Thunderbird system to test my theory

The send button being inactive until the address field has something in it has only been around for the last couple of versions so any history past that would be meaningless.

The Send button is inactive until you actually put something in an address field. When you reply that is done for you so the button will be active. If thunderbird thought you were offline the button would say Send Later instead of Send.
i already knew this having been running this program since it's inception and running NetScape mail in the beginning stages... that was not the problem however, i played with the program and got it to work but i could not tell you what i did now ... i think it had something to do with starting yahoo chat when the program loaded i have since set it not to load when i open Thunderbird , when i want to chat i turn on the chat connection ... that seemed to cure my problem ... thank you for your time
