I have been using yahoo mail on firefox for years, but now I can't reply to an email. Every time I try to reply to a message I get this:

Yahoo! Mail found the original email, but encountered problems displaying it. Please try again later.

I have switched browsers, and both explorer and chrome work fine. So, I will be switching permanently to Chrome if this cannot be fixed soon. I really like Firefox, but if I can't reply to an email, what good is it to use Firefox when I can reply fine on other browsers?

I did just realize that the problem has something to do with my other mail account. I have an email address associated with my website and forward mail to my yahoo account. I cannot reply to anything I receive via my website mail address. I could for years with firefox and I can in other browsers though, so it looks like I will have to switch to another browser, unless I can resolve this issue soon... help?

Also cannot reply to messages in Yahoo Mail in Firfox, error: Yahoo! Mail found the original email, but encountered problems displaying it. Please try again later.

Works fine using Chrome browser.

Clearing cookies and history doesn't help.

hello romielittrell, in this thread a user has found out that the problem might be related to the ghostery addon - do you have it installed too?

I have the problem and have the Ghostery plug-in blocking all tracking objects.

Works fine on Chrome which also has Ghostery blocking all tracking objects (cookies, gifs, etc..)

Thanks.

click on the ghostery icon while you're in yahoo's webmail, choose "edit blocking options" & then don't block on this domain

Thanks but that defeats the purpose of Ghostery. Clearly the issue is with Yahoo Mail using a tracking object that's also considered a tracking object so the fault lies with them but unless they fix it I'll probably stick with Chrome.

I posted here [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/que.../947471#answer-399744] my resolution to this, which does involve disabling Ghostery on Yahoo! mail. I agree with az1982 that Ghostery shouldn't need to be defeated to fix this problem, but I disagree that this is Firefox's fault. I blame Yahoo! mail for allowing this. Maybe it is a bug only for Firefox, but it's a pretty gaping wound to go untreated for nearly three days.

It's a Yahoo Mail bug, not Firefox. I was able to recreate the problem under Chrome. You need to add login.yahoo.com to the Whitelist in Ghostery. Once you are into Yahoo Mail Ghostery appears to work normally.

I just started having this problem. I looked for Ghostery but must be looking in the wrong place. I don't see it in my list of plug-ins. Email works fine in Chrome. If I try to reply and get this message, the tab won't close and I have to relaunch. I really don't want to switch back to Google Chrome, but will have to if I can't fix this.

hello wilde_wood, you can look for ghostery in firefox > addons > extensions - if it isn't listed there, you don't have it installed. in this case you could also try resetting firefox: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

Thanks, madperson. I didn't have Ghostery, but resetting Firefox seemed to do the trick. Thanks for your help!

I DO use Ghostery, I clear my caches every couple hours, made the huge mistake of "resetting" Firefox (surprise, that PURGES EVERYTHING without even the courtesy of saving anything, especially the laboriously accumulated list of NoScript whitelist URLS meaning you start from scratch having to approve the hundreds of companies you do trust) and the end result is Yahoo Mail is still borked. I can read emails, but can't see attachments (no button), can't switch to plain text (button dead), can't reply to emails, can't compose emails. I've read that blocking their &@!%^ Scorecard Research web beacon could be the culprit but even allowing that insidious little tracker temporarily didn't solve the problem. Yahoo is notorious for trying all sorts of things to cram ads down our throats, so I suspect it's just the latest in programming stunts they've pulled over the past 15 years. They've pretty much ruined Groups, News forums and now Mail. Not many toes left to shoot off. There's no way I'm switching to Chrome. The Google/Doubleclick machine is moving ahead with their own insidious TotalInformationAwareness plan, the latest of which includes sniffing your email and making you sign in simply to use google to search if you want an unfettered search with none of the nanny state crap like "safe search" or their infernal "Instant" suggestion bs.

I have the same problem but i get non responsive yahoo on all browsers. My fix was to disable java then log onto yahoo and revert to pre updated version. After I did the i reactivated java but stayed with the old yahoo and it is faster and who needs an updated version if it doesn't work....

Yahoo has a 15-year history of experimenting with ad blocker circumventions. They and their 3rd parties have even gone as far as to make unauthorized changes to PCs... anyone remember Aureate Media, one of the prime offenders? The issue has temporarily resolved and every day something seems to change with their red dot notifications in the upper right going out of service a lot) as their programmers seem to be playing with the types of cookies they foist on users and the "testing" isn't universal but depends on which part of Yahoo you're visiting and what you're trying to do - post a comment on a forum, watch a video (the idiots auto launch videos if you have - I think - yahooapsis cookie enabled which is a classic intrusive stunt few programmers do these days) or access email to read OR to do more inside email such as respond or send an email.) I haven't figured the exact combination for smoothest access and have dramatically cut down my visits to Yahoo because of it. Sometimes the Scorecard beacon is required, sometimes not, sometimes Yahooapsis has to be on, sometimes not, and they've the temerity to force you to accept the two Facebook(!) cookies simply to post or thumbs up a comment on various yahoo forums, ludicrous since I wouldn't join Facebook if they paid me and because I habitually close FF and run CCleaner after each yahoo or google or bing visit. Disabling Ghostery entirely is no longer necessary, but that crap cookie/beacon from Scorecard media seems to be at the center of the conflict with Firefox. FWIW, I wouldn't use Chrome if you paid me either because I distrust Google more than Yahoo... and I don't trust Yahoo at all.

I had this problem and simply removed the Yahoo Analytics web counter thing in Tools, AVG Track, in Blocked area: unchecked Yahoo Analytics.

Yahoo Email reply/forwards work fine now.
