Hi Figgerty, So Firefox does now have the voice api added to Gecko, so all Mozilla products can use the api. However if you tap in the url bar in Firefox for android, the keyboard will have the ok google speech to text option. As for desktop, this is still being worked on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1003439

Thanks for responding. "I use OK Google" quite a lot on my Android phone and tablet and recently thought it would be good in Firefox. I await the Firefox version with anticipation.

I wish the search results for "OK Google" would show up in Firefox and not the Google app (which is basically just Chrome in a different wrapper). Sure, if I tap a search result in the Google app it opens the default browser (I have mine set to Firefox of course) but the initial display of results still opens in Google. The voice search option in Firefox depends upon the android keyboard you're using and some keyboards either do not have a voice search option or pressing that option just opens the Google app.

Glad to hear Mozilla is working on this. I'm be waiting to pounce on Hello Firefox the second it is available. Thanks.

Can you elaborate on this? I'm running Cyanogenmod 12 (Android 5.0.2) on a Samsung Galaxy S4, and when I tap on the url bar, the default keyboard pops up *without* the microphone button. When tapping on a search field, however (if I manually navigate to google.com for example and tap on the search in the middle of the screen), the keyboard pops up with the microphone as expected.

I use voice almost exclusively when browsing, and this is annoying.

I fail to understand why a microphone button wouldn't appear on the keyboard any time the keyboard pops up, but both Chrome and the stock browser pop up a microphone button right next to the URL bar to compensate for this. Why doesn't FIrefox?

Why do people even still use the keyboard at all when they can just say it? I'm surprised more people aren't making a fuss over this.
