Can't send email out of Thunderbird after new install
I can neither SEND an email, or REPLY to an email after the latest installation by you of Thunderbird. I need to be able to send email. I thought this was a basic action of email, and now I can't do it. It's very frustrating. Msg says: "An error occurred while sending mail: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: 554 5.7.1 <69-218-219-58.lightspeed.rlghnc.sbcglobal.net[69.218.219.58]>: Client host rejected: Access denied."

'Incorrect greeting' means the password or server settings are wrong. Are you using a secure mail key in TB in place of the regular account password?

The server settings, password, et al, are exactly the same as they were BEFORE you pushed out the new install on or about Feb. 13. I have not changed anything, but now, instead of Thunderbird sending my email when I click "Send", it gives me the message
"An error occurred while sending mail: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: 554 5.7.1 <69-218-219-58.lightspeed.rlghnc.sbcglobal.net[69.218.219.58]>: Client host rejected: Access denied."
I am not using a "secure mail key"; I am still using my usual "normal password", as BEFORE the new install you pushed out. In short, I have made no changes to my server settings; yet Thunderbird will not send my mail. This has been going on since Feb. 23, which was when I first tried to send mail after your install. Addendum: I do not use ATT email. I use Frontier/Yahoo with Thunderbird client. We do have ATT fiber for Internet, but how does that affect my email sends? I looked at the ATT link info you sent, but none of those addresses listed apply to my email, which is Frontier.com.

Are you sure AT&T doesn't now require secure mail keys? The first link in my reply gives instructions for TB. If you have a security app scanning outgoing mail, it might have become incompatible with the TB update, a common issue. Run in Windows safe mode with networking to see if any startup apps, such as antivirus, are interfering.
Email now working. Did you Thunderbird people fix it? I am just a user, and I have no idea what you do. All I know is: I need to be able to send email, and I thank you for enabling that ability.
Yahoo have now disabled any thing but secure mail key and oAuth authentication to their server. If it miraculously started working perhaps ATT n yahoo had an epiphany and realized they had not idea how to make it work as they had it. Otherwise expect major issues with anything ATT/Yahoo until they get their collective act together.
OR
They will just force folks to use their web mail so they can show you advertising while you read the mail
The PROBLEM--it was NOTHING I did, and I got no email from Thunderbird, Yahoo, or Frontier about the potential problem, and how to solve it! Lack of communication on all fronts. Very unpleasant. Just suddenly I could not send mail and got a cryptic message about a server greeting. My POINT? Be pro-active if you want your users to know something. Thank GOD, somebody fixed it.

Given the Thunderbird team have no idea who of their 20 or so million uses have yahoo derived accounts, Privacy of users data is very important to the team and we have no records other that what you post of exactly what mail account you do or do not take.
Communicating with you specifically about issue you might have without spamming you with everything that might be relevant is about impossible. I would encourage you to discuss it with your mail provider. That would be in this case ATT. I would however guess it is two years since I saw the first posts from ATT customers on this forum about emails from ATT about them introducing their secure mail keys. So do not be suprised if they reply to you giving very old date f when they notified you.
This ATT support forum post was 2018. So I guess it has been in the wings for at least that long. https://forums.att.com/conversations/att-internet-email-security/secure-mail-key/5defedb4bad5f2f606e46cf3
Nevertheless, COMMUNICATION IS KEY. There are no excuses!
