I received two messages this morning, one from sender "A" that came in to the "inbox" and another from user "B" that came in to another folder. I receive messages from both sources daily.

I dragged the message from "B" into the "inbox."

When I opened the "inbox" I saw only the message from "B" listed, but when I open it I see the message content from "A".

I have lost the content of the message from "B" including an attachment.

Furthermore, when I open any message in the "inbox" and use the "Previous" and "Next" buttons to scroll through the messages I see two copies of the message content from "A" and no message content from "B." One has the "A" address and the other has the "B" address.

After this I saw two messages listed in the "inbox" - one from "A" and one from "B." Both had the same content - from "A."

I dragged both messages into my "business" folder, and both are shown in the message list - one from "A" and one from "B." Both have the same content - the message from "A."

This is usually a sign of file corruption. You can right click the problem folder and select Properties. Then Repair Folder. Be prepared to lose messages if the corruption is too bad. Read this article about good folder practices to help prevent this in the future.

I "repaired" the "business" folder. Now I have two copies of the message from "A" and both have the correct sender name. The message from "B" has disappeared entirely.
