For some time, Thunderbird doesn't seem to work with my gmail account. I tried te re-install but now it doesn't work at all (see screenshot). I get error code SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER

There is nothing installed on my computer called "Browser Safeguard", as was suggested in an earlier post.

what anti virus do you have installed? my guess is the certificate is being issues by your anti virus product. NOT a certifying authority unless you allow it to be one. I would not. I would turn of anti virus scanning of email.

Tanks for your reply

I have Bullguard installed. That used to work fine...

Wouldn't turning off anti virus for e-mail be a risky, or even foolish thing to do?

Not really. Thunderbird by default does not allow remote content. You would have to specifically allow that.

Also advisable to not have 'display attchments inline' selected by default. Only use if you know who sent the email.
