Suddenly I can't move emails anymore in TB with the left mouse button from one submap to another. Meaning: make an email active; push the left button and hold it down; then drag the email to an other map. The dragging doesn't work. I tried several mouses. They all work well in other situations. With the mouse I can move program windows around the screen. Restarting the pc and reinstalling TB didn't help. As far as I can remember I didn't change anything in the options of TB. For the rest TB works as it is meant te do.

Is the issue only moving to 'Family' or any folder?

I tried between two IMAP(gmail), its working fine. Are you getting any error while dragging and drop? If your using IMAP, check the available server space.
Hai, Thank you for your reply. I can't drag and drop mails between (sub)maps under my TB emailaccount(s). Example, I get an email from my father in the inbox of email account abc@ziggo.nl. After reading it I want to transfer it to the submap "family" under the abc@ziggo.nl account. I was always able to do that (for years and years); but now suddenly that is not possible anymore. I don't get an error message. It just doesn't happen. The name of the submap used to turn blue in color, but that is not the case anymore.
Pop or Imap ?
Is 'Family' a subfolder of 'Inbox' or a folder under the actual account.
If IMAP have you checked to see if 'Family' is subscribed properly?
- Right click on mail account name in Folder Pane and select 'Subscribe'
- Click on 'Refresh'
- Select 'Family' and click on 'subscribe'
- click on OK
Can you still move emails by right click on email, select 'Move to' and choose Family folder ?
See if 'Family' folder needs index fixing.
- Right click on 'Family' folder and select 'Properties'
- click on 'Repair Folder' button
- click on OK
Hoi, Thank you for your replies.
These are my actions/answers:
Pop or Imap ? ---Only POP
Is 'Family' a subfolder of 'Inbox' or a folder under the actual account. ---'Family' is a subfolder under the actual account.
If IMAP have you checked to see if 'Family' is subscribed properly?
Right click on mail account name in Folder Pane and select 'Subscribe' Click on 'Refresh' Select 'Family' and click on 'subscribe' click on OK
---N.a.
Can you still move emails by right click on email, select 'Move to' and choose Family folder ? ---That is still possible. No problem there. I can right click, choose 'Move to', select the same email account or an other one, and then select a subfolder to move the email to. The moving succeeds.
See if 'Family' folder needs index fixing.
Right click on 'Family' folder and select 'Properties' click on 'Repair Folder' button click on OK
---I have now processed all subfolders with the repair possibility. Helas, to no avail.
With greet

Well, this problem seems a tough one:-))
Is the issue only moving to 'Family' or any folder? ---No, it is a general problem. No drag and drop from any map to any other map.
Test Thunderbird in Safe Mode. ---No other behaviour in safe mode.
---I tried drag and drop in the file manager of VLC media player. I selected a file, held down the left mouse button and tried to pick up the file and transport it with the mouse to an other folder. That didn't work. This suggests that it is not a TB error but an Windows error.
---I will try to check the windows system files.
I have the same problem. It just started one day with no alterations from me. I can move files in other windows but not in Thunderbird. I have tried in safe mode. I have the same email program on another computer and it works fine. I then tried moving the profiles from one computer to the other and that didn't work. It is quite frustrating as it is such a basic operation which speeds up organising my emails.
Please try:
in Thunderbird
- 'Help' > 'Troubleshooting Information'
- click on 'Open Folder'
A new window opens showing contents of your 'profile name' folder.
- Exit Thunderbird now - this is important.
Please locate and delete the following files......
- folderTree.json
- panacea.dat
- session.json
- xulstore.json
Start Thunderbird.
